x1900GT price dropped below MSRP ...

more and more etailers sale x1900GT, however it's way above MSRP $350+

newegg and monarch do not sale it yet

I know that x1800XT at current price is way better then x1900GT at $100 more
but, I want not so loud card as x1800xt is.

When those x1900gt prices may go down?
week, two or month?
or when the last x1800xt will be sold?

what do you think?
Will HIS put IceQ on x1900GT?

I don't know how you feel about buying from eBay, but I just got a sealed BB ATI X1900GT for $215 shipped. Still tempted on the X1800XT 256MB for $250, but I'm hoping for some soft mods or maybe a decent OC on the X1900GT. We shall see...

A stock GT is faster than the X1900GT by 5~10% if not more. Your better off with an X1800XT or 7900GT for that matter.

newegg has got x1900 gt's in stock now.
And it's a good card and is being retailed for around $250.With some decent ocing u can get it to match the 7900 gts.And u can always soft mod it to the AIW x1900.I say that cause,x1900 xt's have 512mb of ram,where as the x1900 gt has onl 256.So the bios wouldn't match up.
But AIW x1900 is a good candidate.U can unlock 4 pixel pipes and 12 pixel shaders.
No guarantee though.

well for $300 its a bit expensive.

the x1800xt is a better deal, and i think maybe a bit faster, + more ram (though i doubt it matters much).

you could just get a x1800xt and a new cooler.

I agree. If it was 16pipes and say 32 pixel shaders clocked a little lower than the X1900XT, then it would be a winner. As it stands at current MSRP, one just has to question ATI's business sense.

I have two pro for x1900GT against others:
1. not as loud as x1800XT
2. should be more reliable then 7900GT - I don't want deal with RMA (just read about many ppl have issues on the second day with 7900GT)

about price - yeah $270 + $20 tax can't justify it against x1800XT for a while
but, that is the first day the "main" etailer sales it
when it will go to $220 mark - then should not be a question IMHO

what do you think?

p.s. please let me know if you see the card outside CA to save on tax extra $20

I think:
1) The X1800XT is the best card at stock in the $250-300 range. You really can't talk about potential future pricing. You compare prices for when you are buying the card.
2) Performance should be a bigger concern than noise. I will agree that X1800XT isn't the quietest card out there, but it's certainly bearable.

When you get into "high end" settings like 2048x1536 4x/16x, the X1900GT just can't keep up with such a fillrate and memory bandwidth disadvantage.

ATI has released the X1900GT and is discontinuing the X1800XT NOT because of a performance increase, but because the X1800XT's are costing ATI alot of money to produce and selling them at $250 just isn't going to be possible if ATI wants to actually make money.

yes, r580s that have "broken" pipes can be reused in x1900GT - may be that can explain that move.

Will x1900GT draw less power then x1800XT due 12 pipes vs 16?

X1900GT have 36 pixel processor while the X1800XT have only 16. Also X1900 series have Fetch4, and higher Hierarchical-Z than X1800 series

p.s. I'd go with 7900GT KO if I can get working card without risk of RMA it the next day.

Considering how many GT's have sold, I think the odds of getting a bad one are not that much different than any other card.

Of course if the high sales numbers regarding the GT are true you will of course see a higher number (proportionately) of bad cards.

You ever just think about how the X1800XT 512MB debuted at $500 and now they are selling for about $250 online now. Think about that markup.

Last month I got ahold of an X1800XT 512 for 242 AR, and i'm extremely happy with it. However, if I were doing it today, I'd seriously look at that 7900 KO edition. That's a really nice card if noise is an issue... Don't know what the real risk of getting a bad one is, but remember people who are unhappy usually make more noise than those who are happy And really, it's eVGA, come on
