Wow, the power requirements on that thing is amazing! I had this translated:

"ATi will be able officially to issue brand-new high step cartography core R580 to January 24, 2006, moreover also the official naming will be Radeon the X1900 series, although the hearsay long time but had not seen the true body, how but can the HKEPC editorial department be called the reader which pursues the new thing to be disappointed, one's own looks for ATi the R580 true body exposure, may see R580 Die Size further changed in a big way, if said by 90 ?? metric systems regulations, so huge Die Size believed will be able to integrate surpasses above 3.5 hundred million transistors.

Now ATi not yet submits the R580 core to the merchant the official specification, only knew will be able to divide into 3 editions, most Gao Chieh will be Radeon X1900XTX, substitutes for old will have by the PE naming method, when the core the arteries is 650MHz, when the memory body the arteries will be 1550MHz. Radeon when X1900XT core the arteries are 625MHz, when the memory body the arteries are 1450MHz. But the CrossFire edition also can when the same date issue, the core the arteries are the 625MHz memory body are 1450MHz. Moreover, ATi discloses Radeon X1900XTX to the merchant the request least 450W power source supply, 30A 12V output, if is overhead construction X1900 CrossFire requests to use the 550W power source supply and 12V must provide 38A the output ability. arteries, lol

But 30A on 12V looks extreme for one card. Are they just trying to include all the crappy generic PSUs in that measurement?

Probably so. I'm sure you cold run SLI on a quality 420w psu with 30A on the 12v rail, I dont see why 1 card would require so much.

its possible that its just a card that works to fill hte gap.... remember what nvidia did w/ teh FX series.... they will probably release a 590 core or something that is actually refined. i REALLY hope tahts teh case and that this is just a LOOK WHAT WE DID pr move.

Pics look pretty right to me... Power requirements don't...

EDIT: Is it just me, or are these cards really getting HUGE...?

I remember SLI required something like 480w, but in reality, it could run fine on less.

exactly the same situatiion as amd basically requiring 300 watt power supplies. i don't understand why anyone would buy a $600 gfx card and get a $15 '500' watt power supply, but it probably happens. and then ati (amd, nvidia, whoever) gets dragged through the mud when in actuality it was the extremely overrated power supply.

I remember a GeForce 6800 Ultra initially requiring something like 480W, but in reality, it could run fine on MUCH less...

Yup, an Ultra could easily be powered by a nice Antec 350W PSU.

It looks like its the same exact size as the X1800XL and XTs. Now show me the cooler:D

They say it's going to use the same cooler as the X1800XT.

Yes, graphics cards are indeed getting too huge. If they want to impress people, pack more power into smaller packages, and not just the 90nm core.

just out of curiosity, why would a smaller card be more impressive?

personally, as long as it fits in my case, its all good

Wouldn't you eventually like to have a computer that fits in the palm of your hand?
A graphics card the size of a matchbox? I just see these things getting bigger and bigger. The battle between red and green prevents such innovations IMHO. "Just worry about making it faster, we will worry about making it smaller later." Well, later never seems to come. It's just a pet peeve of mine is all. Look at hard drives. They are still the same friggin size they were 20 years ago. Sure they have massive storage today, but damn, make them smaller. There has really been nothing revolutionary there. Just larger capacity. Small form factor PC's are an awesome step toward miniaturization, but the components that go into them aren't miniaturized. So, they arent' really practical for the enthusiast. Anyways, I'm drifting. That is my tale. :)

Already got one - Palm life drive 5GB of storage 416mhz (OC'd to 520:evil: ) 32megs of ram half VGA screen - does Native Office docs, Pics, mp3s, full length movies (I have 8 episodes of scrubs SW E3 and two other movies, web browsing.

It even has decent RTS games and you can set it up to play Doom.
