Now they need an affordable $300 solution. $479 ain't gonna do it for me. I wonder how much it will drop come the holidays.

i'm not a fanboy...but as of now...i don't think the x1800 xl or the xt are worth it
true that they give better performance but the price is too damn high!
i bought my gtx for 440 last month
lol...i wonder if i'll switch to x1800 xt later when the price drops to 4xx

What kind of clocks were you able to get with your XL tuteja? I'd like your results and a few others to credit/discredit something the INQ. and Dave at beyond 3D said.
There is a separate thread for this if you could post your results in there.

Yeah, it's not so much the patience, but the closed minds around here are staggering.
I am anxious to see results so we can either call BS on the inq article or thank them for the warning. I don't care one way or the other, as long as we are informed. I myself do not plan on purchasing an XL for various reasons. One being that I already have a 6800GT and a 7800GTX, so no reason to go anywhere at this time. But I want everyone who would be interested in the XL to know what the score is. I am actually interested in the GTO2 however. Just to play.

The 7800gt overall performs better than the 1800xl and it costs more than a GTX! I know you can overclock the xl but you can overclock the gt as well. Did I mention its costs more than the GTX? When the price comes down to a competitive level and you all ready have a gtx there is absolutely no reason to get the xt. If your just buying the card it will just depend what games you want to play. it will be a toss up. If your wanting to get the next step under them and if you already have a gt, there is no reason to get the gt. If your just buying a card you should get the gt.

But if it were me by the time the prices come down to a competitive level something better would prolly be coming out right around the corner. I would prolly wait or that for better DX10

Reading his post, I got the impression that he hadn't actually received the card yet, I could be wrong though... and some people are less rabid about getting their hardware up and running, although I am in the same boat as you, Duvie :)

Nope. Call me when there's a price drop.

I would be interested to see someone's rationale on why this card, the X1800XL, is worth more than the 7800GTX.

It's like anything else, products start high, move lower as supply/demand set the real price. Early adopters always pay extra.
