Well I was trying to be nice but since you've called me a fanboy, I'll say this. It's clear from the tone of your original post here that you are NOT an impartial reviewer. You have bias that is just shining right through.

The money you MADE selling your 512 GTX? You're going to LOSE it selling your X1800XT because it's been discontinued and the price of better X1900XTs is going to continue it's plunge toward $400..

IMO ATI only released the X1800XTs to recoup as much of the three re-spins as they could. 🙁

Yeah, they should've left the market with the X800's for another 3 months.

I'm downloading it also, is there a spot I can check in the demo? I don't have the full game version of COD2..I'd definately like to check it out on my rig.

I don't know, it just seems that from the get go you were looking for reasons not to like the ATI card.

What in the F is wrong with you? Do us a favor. You, Ackmed and any other ATI fanboy stay the hell out of this thread. If there is a way the rest of us can help the OP resolve his problems, we'll handle it. We don't need you coming in here with the intention of proving the OP wrong even before entering the thread and just looking at the thread title. You know you do this. I know you do this. I think your paid to do it. Get lost. We can handle things here. /ignored.

Uh, all I did was ask what games, and where he was having problems. And asked why he thought overclocking was a pain. Then you try and start an arguement. So take your own advice, and shove it.

WTF are you talking about??? He's not looking for any help. He never asked for any help. He made his judgement and then came here to tell everyone how inferior the ATI card is.

I've also made a couple vide of the flashing textures I'll upload...

Yes, on the top of the tommy is the shimmering, and on the barrel of the K98K

Ok, checked them out. It does appear that even at around 5 feet front of you and beyond, the ground shimmers. Easy to see the mip transistions.

A few questions. In game settings under graphics, what is your Anistropic Filtering set to?
I believe if you have it set to "anistropic" the default is 8x or 16X. There are also Bilinear and Trilinear options. Make sure its not set to either. Just anistropic. In your ATI CP or what ever your using, for anistropic filtering, make sure it says "application preference"
to let CoD2 control it. Also, set quality to the highest possible settings in the CP.

Did you download the vid? I'm almost done. Gonna see in about 3 minutes.

Yeah downloaded it. I see it but since it's on the gun barrel it's not as noticeable as the vids that were posted by 5150Joker was it? I sit only on the gun barrel or is it somewhere else cause I don't see it anywhere else.

Edit: Ahh, never mind, I see it on the ground now also.

I hope the IQ setting keysplayr mentioned work cause I think I'm about to get a X1800XT also for a deal 😉

Just looked at the vids and I do see some shimmering. Would be nice to see how the same scene looks on an Nvidia card for comparison. Anyway, I'm dissapointed that after all this time nobody has done an in-depth comparison of shimmering between ATI and Nvidia in different games. Until someone does, this issue will never be settled.

I don't know where you took these vids but it would be nice if you could take one from somewhere in the demo level so that we could all check it out on our cards for comparison.

I see what you're talking about easily in those clips, especially clip3. I hadn't noticed anything like that just testing the demo, but I'm going to take a look and see.

Its on the ground in all three vids. Not as severe on snow covered ground in the first vid, but it's still there. The 2nd and 3rd vid are pretty bad though. It's like the ground is crawling in front of him, patches of blurred ground suddenly clear up but still crawl. And this is right in front of him, not all the way down yonder where you would expect to see something like this.

Recording a demo will not replicate shimmering on other peoples machines. Unless of course other machines shimmer as well. Only data is recorded in the demos, not actual video. It will be re-rendered on whatever PC it is run on. But I guess it would be a good way to repeat his exact same movements.

I can see it as well, very easily. What drivers are you using? As I said, a buddy of mine just got a XTX last Thursday, and I went over to check it out. I didnt see that on his system, and I know I would have noticed it. I dont have any idea what drivers he was using. Are you forcing AF thru the drivers, or using the games option menu?

I think he means take footage from somewhere in the COD2 demo so that people without COD2 can try that stretch of area and see on their own machines.

I don't mean recording a demo. I just mean do the test in the same level that's in the demo so those of us who don't own the full game can also do the test.
