Just wondering if its possible to run x1600s in crossfire with no mastercard/dongle on the X200 chipset?

Would this work with the x1800GTOs?

Thanx.

I'm pretty sure you have to have a 3200 xfire chipset to be able to run any crossfire setup without a master card.

These are my thoughts as well, but i wasnt completely sure if the x1600 crossfire was implimented before or after the release of the x3200 chipsets. As i was told that no dongle/mastercard is used when running them in crossfire. Although, I'm not sure if this is the case with the x200 chipset, in which the older chipset would not support crossfire for the x1600 at all.

The reason im wondering is because im tryin to build a low budget system for my bro and give him a lil room for upgradeablity. He really doesnt game that much so i figured for the initial build an x200 chipset board with an x1600xt would do fine for now and later he could throw in another x1600xt card in crossfire for an upgrade. If he so chooses.

Also was interested to know if this would work for the x1800gto cards as the initial cost wouldnt be much more than the x1600 and he'd get better results when running the gto's in crossfire.

WRONG.

X1300 and X1600 crossfire work on the x200 chipset
