X1600 AGP Pro & HDTV Wonder

I have recently had to return an ATI X1600 512MB AGP Pro because it caused WinXP Pro to crash when I tried to watch over the air HDTV broadcast using a ATI HDTV Wonder. After I after consulted with the ATI help desk twice and followed all their instructions to no avail I even tried ugrading all the ATI and motherboard drivers and the problem still persisted. ATI's technican seems to think that the VIA chipset is the problem but I have come to the conclusion that the X1600 AGP translator chip must be at fault because my old ATI 9700 Pro works fine. My advice to any considering buying this card to upgrade their old AGP video card is to STAY AWAY FROM ANY X1000 SERIES ATI CARDS WITH A AGP TRANSLATOR CHIP!!!!

P.S. The 9700 Pro/HDTV Wonder combination works best on my system with the May 2005 HDTV Wonder Software Release and any of the recent Catalyst drivers.

Did you get to see what the video quality was like? I was thinking about getting that HDTV Tuner and would like your opinion. I have a good non-HDTV Tuner (ATi TV Wonder Elite) but I want to try HD. How is the reception for the HD channels? Thanks.
