i dunno how long before you leave your car unattended, if you run your car at lunch, or if you have remote start, but you may want to use a power inverter and setup a VCR in your car. However, it may eat your battery and running your engine may be required for the alternator to recharge your battery. Also, some remote starters have an option to automatically run your car when your battery starts to get low.

yeah i installed a remote starter myself a few weeks ago

but i dont think it would require a huge amount of power....

i could get a 700w inverter or something and put a huge ass 10kf capacitor on it and just charge that sucker up before school starts...

how long would that cap power the camera?

don't forget...you'd have to be powering the camera AND the VCR...without the VCR, you'll have nothing to hook the RCA cables to.

x10 makes wireless cameras.

wireless is great...but if you park in a parking lot, you're probably at least 300-500 feet away from the school to begin with. Now...then you'd have to set up a VCR @ school with A) permission from the principal or B) in a discreet location that is in range of your x10 cam.

my parking lot is less than 100ft from the school. if i get up early enough, i can park in a closer spot, and the tv programming room is right inside the first door, probably no more than 200 feet from the furthest spot in the lot, but i can probably get within 150 feet...

think it will work then? the guys in TV pro would hook me up....

but, if i couldnt do wireless, then i would have to do that thing in the car with a vcr...

could i just put a spare battery with an inverter? how long would the charge last?

we have used them.. not bad video quality, its great short range (30 feet) for clear video after that it gets a bit fuzzy.

We had teh wireless one and got the "battery pack" to run it via batteries..

its quite cool :)

mcmelectronics.com carries wireless video xmitter w/ 200 or 1000 ft range...they also sell b/w or color cameras, covert units as well...even pinhole...as for power consumption, these options do not tax your battery @ all...the camera can run for days of a 9v battery
