X-Men: Days of Future Past - Trailer

I hate time travel. The trailer doesn't look that good to me but I love superhero movies and will definitely see this one.

I was very upset at how such a well cast movie could be so bad in the first X-Men. I even gave the rest of them a try. First Class wasn't awful (and Fassbender is good in pretty much everything) and the Wolverine was decent for what it was (basically Wolverine fan service). I am sure I'll see this one.

I dunno, they have a good universe and generally interesting characters, so I'll give it a chance. They also have the talent and budget to pull off a good movie. Still, at some point they're gonna have to find a new horse to beat.

X-Men is the best superhero comic series. It offers the best variety of superheros and the most stories to go with them.

I've been entertained by all of the X-Men movies so far, and will definitely be seeing this one.

Marvel: Milking it for all it's worth.

Not Marvel. 20th Century Fox. The bought the X-Men film rights in 1994 and still own them. The deal is that if they don't produce an X-Men film within X amount of years then the rights revert back to Marvel (now Disney). But since they're such cash cows, Fox would be insane to give that up. So we get an X-Men film every 3 years.

Same thing with Spider-Man but Sony owns those rights.

Good, because their movies are some of the most entertaining ever, so they should keep them coming

This looks awesome, and I hope the movie is pretty long, so that every character gets a decent amount of exposure

Agreed on both counts. They have great IP here, but if they sell their characters short all that will be left is flashy spectacle and the whole thing will stink.

The last one was the best, so if it's the same director/producer I may give it a shot.

X-Men: First Class was directed by Matthew Vaughn (also directed the first Kick-Ass movie). This movie is directed by Bryan Singer who also did the first and second X-Men movies. If I remember correctly, he did not do the third X-Men movie because he was too busy with Superman Returns. Yeah, both of those films ended up being terrible. 😛

I can't wait. Days of Future Past was an excellent story arc for the comic.

And the "First Class" cast is just insanely good and very fun to watch.

totally watching this. the wolverine movie that came out this year was pretty awesome imo, for a comic book movie

Which is why we will be seeing as many Avengers-universe titles as Marvel can pump out, because they want as much cash out of the comic book world as they can muster. And two of the biggest brands they own, they can't even do anything with.

So, it's going to be like clockwork - at least once a year, if not twice in some years, we'll see a movie about one of the Avengers characters, if not the whole gang.

haven't watched this trailer yet, but being that it is Singer, is this the original X-Men franchise, or the new (Origins) one?

odd thing, is that X3 (Even though not Singer) ended with the bit about Xavier surviving through someone's corpse (Same shit he did in 80% of the comics whenever he was "killed") and of course, Magneto getting his powers back, so there was the potential to keep it going.

And, in that latest super duper ultra shitty "The Wolverine" movie from the summer--same god damn ending: Xavier and Magneto (Stewart and McKellen) suddenly showing up at the airport to hang out with Wolverine. so...was that meant to be a continuation? People are saying spinoffs....

EDIT: Woot! this is the original franchise cast. motherfucking yes! I "enjoyed" Origins, some of the cast was great, but none of it was better than Stewart/McKellen/Jackman/Jansen. (Fassbender was great, though). OK...it's both casts. this is making sense now. Even each franchise/timeline are different studios, right? Marvel vs Fox?

Singer back at the helm gives me hope--X2 is my second favorite comic book flick to date, behind Watchmen.

OMG Bishop! I kinda sort remember the DoFP storyline, but that was a long time ago.

You know... that was the first thing that popped into my head.
I never really got the wolverine man-crush.

It's the most developed modern X-Man story, that also doesn't involve space adventure with aliens and major mindfucks (jumping into the psycho world with that black shadow dude--whatever that was called).

A lot of comic book story lines would simply be shit in a film, and Wolverine's is the most filmable. They touched on Phoenix..sorta, but as you noticed, taking her into space and killing everything in the known Universe, only to resurrect everyone and blah blah blah, is just too much for the scope of any worthwhile flick.
