Actually, the first one sucked balls the first time you watched it.. But upon second showing it was actually pretty damn good.. The expectations were too high for it, though.

If he's just now getting the script, what kind of timeline does that put the movie on for release?

Seriously?

How bout:

The Shield
The Unit
John from Cincinatti
My Name is Earl

etc.

The X-Files was good in its first few seasons, and then it took a hardcore turn into the loony bin and just went to crap.

Will this be a prequel? Smoky died and the story was pretty much done. Oh, and the 'relationship' got to a "let it be" point that I don't really want to see more of.

As for the first movie, I love it. The Federal building scene is one of the best intros I can think of.

Nah... It was spot on until the last two-three seasons. (after david duchovny left it allll went to crap) The cliffhanger season finales got old but the rest of it was great.

Yeah. Making Scully suddenly become the believer and T-1000 the skeptic didn't really work for me. That was when I stopped watching the series.

I watched the series and followed the main storyline until Mulder's abduction. I vaguely remember the episode where Scully gives up her kid for adoption and I don't think I watched any episodes after that.

It was an awesome show and the first movie really increased my interest in the series (I started catching all the old episodes in syndication, trying to ensure I didn't miss the 'really good ones') - but it kinda lost steam towards the end.

I really liked the first movie - enough to own it at least. I'm glad there will be another :)

Ditto. I watch those episodes sometimes when I'm bored, but the T-1000 dude kind of turned it into a cop show. Gets a big fat "blah" from me :p

You know, I agree with that statement. The first time I watched it, it was fun but I didn't feel it did justice to the TV show. Second time around, and after that, I really started enjoying it more because it does fit more it with the show - I was kind of expecting a super-action-alien-killing-mystery show, but they seemed to have kept it fairly in-line with the show itself.

meh, the first one was a cop out and led to the downfall of the tv series didn't it?
unless this one has a good conclusion it will be worthless

I didn't think the first movie ever sucked balls, actually. I liked it the first time, and the second time, and the third time. (I've only watched it three times.) 4

X-Files is one of the best shows of all time.. I remember waiting every Sunday night just to see how an episode started and ended (I loved the cliffhangers in pretty much all the episodes).

And I also hated how NYPD Blue always went up against the X-Files. :(
