I would like to buy this

x-fi 1

but I do not see a front audio connector header but this has it

x-fi 2

What are the big differences between the two?

I would really really like to use the front panel connectors on my Antec 900.

A few games support it, in those cases you can improve your framerates a bit. I have no idea if x-ram really has a future or not.

framerates are not really an issue atm as I have 8800GTX, I just want hardware accel sound that I can connect to my front panel.

The XtremeGamer looks like the way to go then.

Up until the release of the new "budget" X-Fi cards, the whole X-Fi line used proprietary connections that were only compatable with the creative drivebay (or with some modding, regular connections).

The XtremeGamer does indeed look like it has a more standard connection to use with a standard front panel connection, so that would be a good bet.
