X-Fi going out?

My X-Fi now produces a high pitched whine in Audio Creation mode (in headphones, not on the card itself), and game mode says it requires a restart. A week ago game mode produced a mid range whine. A few days ago game mode BSOD'd on a switch to game mode.

Does this look like the card is going out or driver issues?
