Just a thought about this card. When it first came out, remember how it was touted that you'd get some awesome performance boost due to its onboard super X-TREME!!!!! :::X-RAM::: ..

For 299.99+

Well, a year or two later.. where is that performance increase? Nowhere, I expect.

I think this is a good reminder about being cautious with company claims

Hello Frackal. I was just about to post an x-fi question. From your post I would assume their are few games and none in the works that will use x-ram? At NewEgg.com reviewers say the card has problems with nforce boards. Would anybody agree with this? Thanks.

Just save your money, and send half of it to me, and the other half to Frackal. That would be a whole lot better way to spend your money, plus you'd get two instant friends.;)

got it on-sale, and i really can't complain, the sound quality is quite good, and in bf2 i can turn sound settings up to very high, so.... idk. certainly not worth the original $300 tag tho

Another extremely intelligent response here on Anandtech. I am going to make a large donation to the Republican Party in your name. Please move to Arlington as your brain is wasting away in Dallas. Thank you.

I have the fatal1ty with Xram. I got it about a year ago for $120, which was a very good deal at the time. Even if a game is coded to use it, I don't see a few mb of ram making a big difference in todays super computers. The front box is nice for connections, but with the changes Vista made to audio, I'm sorry I didn't just stay with onboard sound. It'll probably be the last sound card I get barring large advances in sound technology.

For consumer level audio, you really can't purchase anything better. That said the cheapest real X-Fi is as good as the most expensive since the XRAM is never used, unless you need the slightly better DAC/ADC of the Elite.

I haven't seen anything with a 'Fatal1ty' name yet that has impressed me at any price.
