x-fi fatal1ty or platinum

hi,
i am willing to get the x-fi sound card, since newegg has all the x-fi's now in stock...

but i dont know what to get, the Fatal1ty or Platinum edition, they are both the same except for the 64mb ram, do u think it will be a big difference that worth the 100$ ?
i dont have a problem buying the fatal1ty, since i have enough money for it 😛
i just dont want to make a dumb buy! so if the fatal1ty is better i'll go for it.
what do u think guys?

Meh. Just get the Platinum...unless you're a hardcore audiophile. Besides, I have a feeling the premium for Fatal1ty is simply the "brand name".

well, i have the gigaworks S750, so it is an excellent speaker!
i also have 4800, 2gb ram, dfi Ultra-D, 7800 GTX , 500 GB SATA2
i am building a little high rig...

is it worth to get the fatal1ty?

jimgeagea, I guess it's all about if you think the ram is going to become a widespread usage thing. Pretty hard to tell at this point.

this is what i am thinking, after 2 month of the release of the x2 we are seeing dual core games coming out, and now the x-ram so of course it will be used in the next 2-3 month....
so it is not worth to get a platinum, sell it, and buy a fatal1ty again....

i guess i'll go for the fatal1ty...

can anyone help me with a clue, on how to make a coupon code work on new egg?

x-fi jello would be cool! I think a Crescent 7800GTX is in order too 😀, and a Special Edition Zebo Athlon X2 5000+.


If you have the gigaworks speakers, I think the x-fi would be worth it. If you do alot of gaming, that is probably the only time you will need that x-ram. so if it's just watching movies, and listening to music, get the platinum, if it's gaming, and workstation apps, then get the fatal1ty. IMHO.

Sure if that's what you want. W00t there's no reason to attack the guy because you don't like the premiums they charge for attaching his name. He is actually a decent guy from all reports, but the fact is the guy is the best gamer on the planet right now (FPS gamer I should say). He may end up being the Babe Ruth of gaming if he can keep it going for the next 8-10 years and help to legitimize competitive gaming.
