I'm trying to get the cable for the front audio so I can use the ones mounted on my case.
 
Refer to my earlier post on page 5 to get everything working.

I'm glad that a few people were helped by my post. I really like the Jazz Club setting on EAX, CMSS 3D at default Stereo Xpand with the Crystallizer on default too.
 
Wow. Kinda surprised by the difference. I can't be absolutely sure it's not a placebo effect but the stereo separation does seem much better than my Audigy 2. When I played mp3s on my Audigy, I used a Winamp plugin called DFX to make them sound better (it cheats since it's a sound shaper). The X-Fi without any plugins, since I'm using the included Media Source, sound about the same as the DFX enhancements, maybe even a little better since it's not as muddy, seems cleaner, crisper.

Shame I jacked up the Line-In. Oh well, I purposely started on that opamp because I knew I would likely never use it and it was a practice run. If I need to run a mic though, I'll have to use the onboard audio.
 
anyone buy the cable that connects from the card to the front audio headers on ur mobo? Where can I buy that from?
 
I received my SB0460 today. Package was well packed with sytrofoam peanuts. Received my card in an anti-static bag. The seal on the bag was broken and then taped over, so I dunno if I received a returned card or not. I won't be able to test it until I get my system built.


I'll keep you guys updated.
 
Mines up and running, now. I ordered the dts 610 thing from creative. Should be some cool jams comming out this rig after I put new capacitors and dacs. home grown cudzoo sound.

Got this in on Fri and everything installed great. Then I started having problems with lockups where the sound would stutter so I knew it was driver related. It took several crashes for me to realize while I did install from the iso posted here I never did update them. Ran the update and everything has been fine since.

So make sure you update them 🙂

I didn't update anything and it worked fine, but now I lose my Logitech MX518 drivers about 1 out of every 3 boot ups. I'll see if an update helps. What I really need to find now is a steal deal in here on some good 2.1's.

I did, it is working fine. Just had to boot in safe mode and run the install CD. A lot of the applications failed to install but the driver and console itself installed. Works great too! Sounds crystal clear and games have never sounded better! Again, thanks for this thread... 😀
 
After you get the drivers installed run the installation again and a lot more of the programs will install, even more after updating with the web driver. still there are a few that give me errors, but i'm guessing it's creative dropping the ball, as newer drivers rectify some errors.. The people who own the top tier Xfi's haven't been pissed for nothing, it's history with vista has been pretty bleek. Meh, i didn't really want kareoke anyway 😛
