X-Fi and Vista

Creative's drivers are still trash with my Sound Blaster Audigy 2. Dunno if they are much better for the X-FI though I would hope so. Go with an Auzentech card or something. Prelude if you need EAX, though it is expensive.

Otherwise, I'm sure it will work in Vista but you might have some sound glitches occasionaly.

I tried early beta drivers and they were BAD I guess that's why many people think they are that way but actually can't complain now.
Using X-Fi on Vista 32 bit no problems so far except for Vista itself - hardware accelerated audio does not work in Direct X games. Fortunately there is a fix from Sound Blaster called ALchemy

Prelude is X-Fi just from a different vendor. Feature-wise the difference is that Prelude can encode multichannel audio to some sort of dolby- arguably this might be handy if you play games and want to utilize digital connection to a high quality receiver. I don't bother and use analog connection so have no reason to take this path, but others might differ.

Yeah but apparently Auzentech has kept the Prelude in development for an extra few months so that Creative wouldn't skimp on the drivers like they do with their own products. For me, the driver support just infuriates me when I experience the glitches I do. So personally, I'm hoping for a card that finally supports Vista properly.

About 2 weeks ago new drivers came out that supposedly fixed the Vista problems. Did you try those?
