HOT? You're paying over two times more for an overpriced chip. Go look for some Cheapmods. You can find some for $15 each and they pretty much perform most of the vital functions that the Xecuter2 does. PM me if you want to know more about the Cheapmods since not many people know.

bah, you've been sucked into their propaganda. They did a fantastic job........ of copying OpenXbox.

You want multi-bios boot and Live compatibility? A $15 CheapMod with a $2 switch, you can even run the same X2 bios.

XBMP is a HIGH quality homebrew program. i started using it this week and love it, i can now play my entire family guy archive on my tv :)

i dont understand locking this thread, if they lockthis then they might as well lock all dvd burner threads or cd burner threads. it's a very subjective thing to decide when it comes to locking based on possible illegal activity. as long as we keep this thread free of "HOW TO BURN GAMES WITH THE MODCHIP" or topics thereof, i see no need to lock this thread.

or if someone posted a sale for gun accessories, that could be locked for possible murders

Go search xboxhacker.net or xbox-scene.com. Many people in the forums there sell everything you need to make your own Cheapmods for $15. It's just a bios chip and a PCB, no reason to buy a $50 chip to do this.

Thanks for the tip!! 5 minutes of searching netted me a cheapmod kit already flashed and ready to install.... total price? $19 shipped to me via USPS Priority Mail.

Thanks Again!

Does anyone know a store in the (626) LA/Pasadena area that does mod chip installations or a fellow anandtecher who is willing to install a chip for me? I don't think I trust me self with sautering a $200 piece of machinery. I was planning on getting the X2lite, but seems like you guys don't think so highly of it.

I haven't kept up with the scene for a long time. Can someone give me a yes/no answer if they've figured out a way to play on xbox live with an upgraded hard drive?

Thanks.

no... but you can do something like THIS and just flip the switch back to the original hd when you want to play on live.

Yeah, something like that.

You'd need a modchip (like what's posted in this thread) and a bigger hard drive.

A quick search on google will give you enough info to read up on for the next month

Yes, you need to install a switch and you have to Lock the replacement Hard Drive so that when you disable the mod chip, the original bios won't freak when it checks the HD for the lock.

go with a magic 3.1

you can get them for half the price and the only diff is you have to hit reset when you insert a new game

If you set up your mod with boot from drive F, you keep all your non-original files on drive F, and you lock your upgraded harddrive, then when you turn off the mod, you'll be safe, because the default bios is incapable of reading drive F, and the system will appear to be a stock system.
