Just received this. Get out now!

Dear X.com account holder,

As part of X.com's continuing product shift to focus exclusively on our
industry-leading online payment service, PayPal, we are ceasing operation
of the X Finance business, including the Internet banking division of
First Western National Bank ("FWNB"), as of December 1, 2000. Please
close your FWNB account by following the instructions at
https://secure.finance.x.com/account_closure.asp. Accounts not closed by
December 1, 2000, will be closed by us on that date and the balance mailed
by check to the most recent address that you have provided.

Effective November 20, 2000, we will no longer accept deposits to your
account, including wire transfers. Please be sure to cancel any direct
deposits or automatic electronic funds withdrawals you may have attached
to your account prior to that date. After December 1, 2000, no items
presented for payment will be accepted, including checks, electronic funds
transfer requests and debit card transactions.

Any Certificates of Deposit (CDs) will be redeemed and credited to your
account on or before December 1, with full interest through maturity.

Please be aware that repayment obligations under outstanding Lines of
Credit are unaffected by this action, and payments should continue to be
made in accordance with the Overdraft Account Agreement at
https://secure.finance.x.com/help_termsofuse.asp#lending. Additional
information concerning procedures for future line of credit payments will
be sent at a later date.

Mutual Fund Shareholders
As a result of this action, X.com will be discontinuing the mutual fund
business of X Finance on December 1, 2000. Please check your fund account
balance and redeem all your shares on or before December 1, 2000. All
remaining shareholders of the Funds on that date will have their shares
redeemed on the following business day (December 4, 2000) at the net asset
value determined on that date. A check for the proceeds will be mailed to
the most recent address that you have provided. For more information,
please see https://secure.finance.x.com/info_prospectus.asp.

Thank you for your business with X.com Finance and FWNB. We regret any
inconvenience this action may have caused. To those X.com Finance
customers who already have PayPal accounts, we look forward to continuing
our service to you and to meeting all your e-payments needs. To those who
have not yet opened a PayPal account, we hope you will join the more than
4 million people and businesses currently using X.com's PayPal to send and

Goodbye and good riddance x.com. Thanks for the free cash and then the screw. I canceled my account and they actually sent me a check for .01 cents. I realize they had to since I closed my account, but they really pulled the rug out from under all of us. My 2 Cents.

I called customer service and they said I had to email my request to cancel thru their site, and it would take at least two weeks to process. It took two emails and they finally closed the acct.

Had fun shredding my X.com Card though.

Got my .17 check too after cancelling (you can do it w/o sending an email by clicking the "profile tab" after signing in, I think). Guess those $5 referals had to catch up to 'em at some point!

Well, I think its about time to close my X.com account. I used to use this account to deposit all my eB@y payments. Now I think I will stick on PayPal more frequently since X.com will not longer exist soon.

I cancelled over the web yesterday with no problems. They'll automatically cancel your account if you don't do anything.

I haven't received this yet, but I'm pissed! I've been using them as my primary checking account because they pay pretty good interest and all of my credit cards are setup for billpay from my X.com account. This is going to be a pain in the ass. I guess I'll be moving to either WingspanBank.com or CompuBank.com. I already have accounts at both places, but this is just another hassle that I don't need right now :(

I too am closing my x.com account soon. Luckily, I have another bank with American Bank. They have high interest rates. 6.25% for accounts under $10,000.

Link

Thanks,
Sun

Nice plan on x.com's part. They change their terms of service effective Nov 1 so they can take all the money for any account with a balance of less than $12, then they close shop a week later. I wonder how much money this saved them from sending back?

super sweet.
I had $20 that gained 13 cents interest since I signed up and never used it. In fact, I forgot about it! Here's comes $20.13, definitely a lukewarm deal. =) lol...

I use Usabancshares.com
They're pretty good and I havent had any hassles with them as far as a online banks goes.
They pay 5% interest and the min deposit you can have is $1.00
I use em to pay my credit cards and it works flawlessly.

At wingspanbank.com.. Am I seeing this right? You need to maintain a $1,000.00 minimum balance for free checking? Or it's $7.5/mo?

Ugh..

Hey...at least they gave us some warning this time.

I would have expected them to close, then send us an email to lert us know - judging by past performance.

I closed mine when they started screwing around with all the terms......a$$holes!

Argh.. I accually used X.com as my main bank....... What other banks do people recomend? I want the same features as X.com

-NO (or very low, $10 or less) min balance
-ATM Refunds (say 4 a month when your balance is over the min balance level)
-Visa Debit Card (unlimited use, no charge)
-Fair interest on balances under $1000, say .5% or greater, like x.com

Basically I want those features plus no extra charges for dumb things. The ideal bank I would like to use would be the one X.com was when I signed up last january, before they started to suck.

I checked out the other banks listed earier in this thread and found the following:

wingspanbank- $1000 min balance
compubank - $1000 min balance
pcbanker - only refunds atm charges on balances of $750+, 0% interest on balances of under $750? this one was a little confusing.. Also depending on the type of account you setup you dont get interest? or you get charged for viewing your account online??
usabancshares - looks good at 1st, except it uses mastercard.. however also a little unclear on other charges/services

Anyone else that uses these have reviews counter to what I said?

Email me at urgo666@yahoo.com if you do not wish to post here. Thanks :)
