fanboys suckit

ok, so it's newer... yes, but what good games are there, i mean really good games, i can think of 1 and only 1, and i'm not allowed to say it.

:p

So why should I listen to a 14-year old on a site devoted to how great he is. Most xbox owners are devoted to microsoft ?! Uhh... I work for a competitor and I bought it because it's the best console available in my opinion. That kid should go suck himself.

Uhhh... wait... he's already full of himself.

What video connections does X-Box have? If it has component and/or DVI I'm just gonna go out and buy it today.

ok, so it's newer... yes, but what good games are there, i mean really good games, i can think of 1 and only 1, and i'm not allowed to say it.

Now remember, we're talking opinion here. I personally don't like the Final Fantasy series... So that kindof thing isn't going to appeal to me.

For X-Box, the games that I like have been the one unmentionable of course, DOA3, Sega GT 2002, Amped, RalliSport Challenge, NHL 2002 (Yes its available on the PS2, with DTS Surround Sound even ... I own both versions, but I liked the X-Box one better ... Believe it or not, because I like the X-Box controller better for this game than the PS2 one). There are a lot of games I'm looking forward to and some which have been released which I've heard are pretty cool, including Turok, Robotech (both already out but I dont have the cash to spare for games right now) ... Brute Force, NHL 2003, Unreal Championship, Terminator, Shenmue II, NHL 2K3 ... I believe most if not all are scheduled to be out before Christmas this year too.

There are a bunch of games coming out after Christmas which I'm interested in as well, but I'll only mention available and will be available in the near future ...

Now you may not consider all of the games I've mentioned "really good games" in your opinion ... but then thats why you like PS2 and I prefer my X-Box over my PS2.

Personally I've racked up a lot of hours playing Sega GT 2002 lately. I like it a lot... In my opinion its more fun to play than Gran Turismo 3...

Now some of the games I've listed are available on both PS2 and X-Box or on all 3 console systems ... The usual X-Box fanboy line goes like this: "It will look better on the X-Box" ... Now graphics aside ... If the game is available on both systems, then it doesnt matter right? Its down to exclusives, and right now there looks to be more promising X-Box exclusives than PS2 (again ... in my opinion). There's alot of concentration on X-Box Live! titles plus with the purchase of RARE who knows what will be coming in the future ... Perfect Dark 2 already sounds like a high possibility.

Mani,

X-Box comes with only Composite Connections for your TV, however with the $20.00 Microsoft HDTV Pack you'll get Component Video Connections (With all games supporting 480p, and the ability to support 720p/1080i as well... Although no games that I know of support it yet) ... Plus an optical audio connection for interactive Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and Dolby Digital / DTS for your DVD movies.

There is no DVI connection that I know of at this time ... Although there is an amateur VGA Box out there which converts the 480p Component Signal into an RGBHV signal and outputs it onto a standard VGA Connector. (I have the same sortof thing except I bought a special converter box to convert any Component 480p connection into RGBHV).

The PS2 controller sucks IMO. It sucks for my two favorite genres especially. Fighting games and Racing games. For Fighter games I'd rather use a Dreamcast and the Arcade stick. For Racing games I'd rather use the Xbox, Dreamcast or even GameCube standard controllers.

As for games, Morrowind, Project Gotham, Gunvalkyrie, Sega GT, Sega Sports games, JSRF, and Rallisport are my favorites (notice the strong Sega bias?). I have a PS2, but only have three games for it. Virtua Fighter 4, GT3 and Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero. Console style RPGs don't do it for me. I rent those interactive movies and beat them during the rental period. It saves money. Metal Gear Solid and GTA 3 are not my types of games (nor will Splinter Cell be). So for me and the type of games I like, Xbox is the better choice. And I don't even own Halo and I still like Xbox more than PS2. I guess I don't really count though since I own all 3 of the "next gen" consoles. 4 if you count Dreamcast and 5 if you count GBA.

Look at the specs of both of them. Not to mention XBOX live is going to be awesome.

BTW I am hardly an XBOX fanboy.

Woohoo. Xbox. A nforce chipset running a tweaked celeron. Why not just buy a computer?

Halo 2 isn't due out for another year. HOWEVER, GTA: Vice City is due out in less than a month!!!

I don't know how people can say that the xbox controller sucks. It is great. Maybe for weenies who have wussy hands it may be a bit big, but then just buy a smaller one. Basically, the Xbox has more future potential than PS2. The graphics on the PS2 are nothing compared to the xbox and the difference will only get larger. Also, with a modchip, the xbox can be used for so much more than just regular games. You can play SNES, NES, MAME, DIVX movies, upgrade the harddrive and play a limitless number of games directly from the harddrive, etc... The xbox will be better online because it will all be broadband so no more lagging or disconnects. Basically, if you can't see the advantages of the xbox after reading this thread, you never will.

yeah. If someone ever starts preaching about PS2, you can always just throw your X-box at the man and kill him. The thing is the size of a large VCR and about 5x as heavy.

Ok, obviously the X-Box is newer/better, but how do you guys feel about playing FPS eg.Halo without a mouse and keyboard? I never knew the difference until I played Q2 for a couple of months, then tried to get back on the N64 and play with the controller. I know the X-Box has a different controller, but is it as good in anyone's opinion as the mouse/keyboard combo? Also probably 80% of the people out here have a regular ol Tv, that will not support higher than 800x600 resoloution. I know the screen is huge, but frankly it's annoying how fuzzy the screen is compared to a moniter. Until I get a plasma tv, and money to waste, I will not own a console period as I just can't see any justification for it over a PC....

Check out Splinter Cell. Also, rare is working for MS now, so expect some good games from them.

So you're saying the PS2 is better because it's truly an inferior console?

Now now, be fair and don't exaggerate to try and prove no point.

The N64 style setup sucks. The 2 stick method (left for movement, right for aiming) works INCREDIBLY well. I am a very good FPS player for the PC, and I still love Halo. In some ways, you will like the Halo config over the PC one. I guarantee it. While you lose accuracy, you gain feel and immersion with the game (trust me). If you have a SVid or Component connection, the game will look great. Unless you sit close to a TV like with a monitor, it won't be a problem. Well, I do, and it still looks fine.

TW, it's hard to choose Ps2 over X-Box I admit right now. And realistically, there's no way the X-Box will beat the PS2 this round. But the X-Box games Will look better, WILL sound better, WILL load faster, WILL have better multiplay.

ED. There is no way MS will quit this round, and we've seen what happens when they get in a battle they want. They've already bought Rare, and when Perfect Dark, Banjo, and their other games come out, it's gonna be crazy. MS will continue to do whatever it takes to win, and while you may hate them for a monopolostic standpoint, this is good for system owners. Would Sony try just as hard? Sure, but they have nowhere near the resources MS does. What Sony is to Nintendo in money, MS is to Sony.

PS2 enthusiasts should just give it up... until the PS3 comes out. Then you have something to argue with.

halo isnt even that great...i demo'ed it at eb, the controls were clunky, the graphics were lagging...if i wanted an fps i'd just as soon play cs or unreal or tribes...etc...at least ps2/gamecube games are more original not just pseudo-PC titles...
