I thought it was against the law for foreigners to directly own land here. .. . yet for under a million dollars he bought an entire town... pretty soon america will no longer be owned by americans. wonder what the eminent domain policy is here

M: Maybe Americans could afford to by towns in Wyoming if they had better jobs. Town probably went bankrupt cause there's no work.

Town? That's laughable. Buford Wyoming, population, 1. Less than ten acres of land.

Nope. You have money, come on right in. IIRC, plenty of properties in Florida, especially Miami area, being purchased by foreigners, especially from S. America.

As a matter of fact, if you have at least 250K USD or more, you can move here, open business(es), hire US citizens, and become LEGAL immigrant. I made a thread about that a while back.

BTW, the guy is a Vietnamese =! Chinese.

I suppose the OP feels differently about Rupert Murdoch, formerly an Australian citizen, who bought up a shitpile of American newspapers & the property they occupy, created a vast empire of right wing infotainment & Faux News network in the process... heh.. buford is a small gas station/store in between Cheyenne and Laramie. i have driven by it many times. not a big thing. i would not call it a town. more like a single building.

Not exactly true anymore. The EB-5 limits were raised some time ago. It's now $500,000 in a "targeted employment area" or $1 MM otherwise. This program expires this September.
 
When I was doing my family history research I found an article that a branch of my ancestors had sold an entire town during the depression. Most people when they come to the USA were foreigners anyway. Buying land is like investing in America.
 
i welcome Vietnamese and other nationality peoples to come to the area where i live and invest their money into real estate and other assets, they are welcome as far as i am concerned. hopefully some new jerbs would then be available for my neighbors
