in a situation where a hotels price is super inflated, it appears the wyndham rewards points price does not inflate.

my real life example:
- dumpy super 8 charging 270$ a night because its 1 mile away from the masters in augusta georgia
- said hotel room only costs 5500 wyndham points, which you can buy for 60$
- buy points for 60$ on wyndham website with wyndham visa, spend on 270$ hotel room, save 210$

:awe:

Wow, half the hotel/motels are of the lesser ilk.

OTOH even the worst of the name chains is stepping up quality some.

I just can't imagine paying $60 to stay at a Super 8.

thats usually about what they cost. maybe a little less in some lower cost states. but i usually stay in them when i go out west - arizona, california, utah, etc.

despite all the hate people give super 8, i havent had a bad experience. sure they are dumpy, but i am fine with dumpy if it saves me 30$ or 40$ a night.

As someone who works corporate for a large hotel chain , it really depends on the franchisee who owns the property. You are going to have your nicer up to date or newer franchises, and you'll still have ones stuck in the early '90s.

Goes across even the Super 8, Red Roof Inns, etc. La Quinta is the one that's really done a 180...most are comparable to your Hampton/Springhills now.

TripAdvisor is your friend in figuring out if it's been recently updated or not. The hotel level photos can be deceiving at times.
