Ok, this might sound like an ad, but it's really not.
A friend who's into vaping turned me on to this site. They're a China importer, or rather, they have warehouses in China, etc.
They specialize in vaping, but I've found that they are a great source of Cell Phone charging / data cables, CHEAP. Straight from China.
Rather recently, I've ordered a few of the "TOPK"-branded, USB2.0 A to micro-USB, braided, with gold-plated connectors. They were $2.77 ea., but down to like $2.42 if you bought 10 or more.
Microcenter sells some braided, longer, Cell Phone charging cables, but they want like $10-15 for them.
These are the best charging cables I've ever seen in my life thus far, and they were less than $2.50 ea. in qty.
The only problem is, if you order them, it takes a few weeks to a month to receive them in the mail. That's the cost of saving a few bucks on them, and not buying them immediately from a B&M.
I've even considered trying to supply my local Indian-run (India indian) convenience stores with them, both they and I could make a tidy (little) profit on these things.
Anyways, this site is not mentioned often, so I wanted to mention them, as a source of savings.
Another site that is good, is www.superbiiz.com , a lesser-known site, but a good place, or used to be, to get keyboard / mouse / speakers cheap for system-builders. Search on their site for "iMicro". That's their house brand. (Microcenter sells some iMicro stuff too.)
Edit: Also picked up a whole bunch of USB to micro-USB (Android) charging cables, at my local Dollar Tree (everything's $1) store. Sure beats CVS or Walgreens or whatnot, for $5-6 per cable. Sure, there's probably a slight quality difference, but I don't know if it's enough to matter, and considering that you can buy five of the cheap ones at the dollar store, for one of the normal-priced ones at a drug store, you really don't have to worry about the longevity that much.
You can get 94cm USB charging cables at fasttech for less than a dollar in qty as well.
There used to be sites, MeritLine.com, and SVC.com, but I think that both of them have closed by now. (Amazon effect. )
