I read an article somewhere about this high school student who was running a hardware website from his bedroom and how he scooped everybody on publishing a review on the new AMD K6 450-3 cpu.

Was that in 1998 or 1999?

A friend turned me on to the reviews in '99 or 2000. Lurked in HD's for a while for a while after that.

My older brother had read this site in order to learn how to build a computer (1999). I started reading the reviews shortly after (2000). I didnt know what a forum was, or what its purpose was (i was a real noob) so I didnt discover the forums until late 2003 when I wanted to overclock, new nothing about it, and was pointed to the case&cooling and cpu forums.

I spent my first year solely in CPU and Case&cooling, got bored, ventured into GH, HD, and then my life came to a crashing halt when I accidentally clicked on OT and read a real funny thread -> addicted now.

Searching for hardware reviews back in '99. Lurked for a couple of years then started posting in CPU/OC. Now OT all the time....

Don't remember exactly how I found it, but it must have been through another site.

Look at my join date. Probably shortly before registering on the forum.

Addicted? Nope. I'm more addicted now than ever before, but it's more a function of time killing and procrastination than actual addiction. (I don't have a problem, honest...)

First posts were in ATOT, IIRC.

back in early 2000 i was hitting the main page a lot. i think more was going on back then than now. notice that they don't review heat sinks anymore.

first post was hot deals.

Confimred! Back then a new processor meant big incerases in frame rates, now it's no big deal. And talk about the 3D cards! Now it doesn't matter taht the voodo 2 sli was better than the voodoo 3! It was neat back then.

Also, dirvers are now better, etc....
