Indeed. My paternal grandfather was a Soviet Navy pilot in WWII, while other gramps was toughin it out in the infantry.


Soviet Infantry? If so, He should have been given a medal in just surviving the war!

He has received few. The hell he's been through is unimaginable. He susvived the onslaught of 1941, imprisonment, POW camp, escape, undeground resistance, back in the trenches. There are some amazing stories to be told.



Sounds like he was VERY Lucky to be alive. I lost a great Uncle who was a Ball Turrent Gunner in a B-17. He was shot down in 1942 somwehere over Germany. My other Great Uncle Flew a P-47 and he survived being shot down 3 times ;)

They removed the Toronto Lanc that was a Gate Guard down on the lakeshore near the CNE, the weather and graffiti took its toll on the poor thing.

Looks like they're restoring it.
