WWF No Way Out, I was there, my impressions!

First off, if you want match recaps, read them at 1wrestling.com or watch Raw. Here are my non match recap imressions:

1. nWo got a LOUD ovation, and when Hollywood first took the mic, it was deafening.
2. The pyro they do is AWESOME and it's unbelievably loud. TV doesn't do justice to how damn loud their pyro is.
3. The Hardy Boys got a very large pop, much more than the Dudley's who I prefer
4. RVD also got great fan response
5. Rock and Triple H got great responses, Angle got a lot of boos, good heel response.
6. Suprisingly, Austin didn't get nearly as loud of cheers as Rock and HHH. I was suprised.
7. The place exploded when the nWo came out and nailed Austin and spray painted him. It was great.
8. The PPV ended with Austin laying in the ring, spray painted and beaten up with the nWo walking off. But in the arena, after the nWo left, Scott Hall came back by himself and tried to beat up Austin some more, but Austin fought back, stunned Hall, and then poured beer all over him and drank a few himself.

The only wrestling I had ever been to before this was house shows, and I gotta tell ya, WWF No Way out was AWESOME. The matches were all great, (Austin vs Jericho was kinda slow paced and not many moves, a TON of Ric Flair chops, more of a brawl) and it was really fun. Probably the last wrestling event I'll ever attend, and it's great that so many of the great wrestlers were there and made appearances, Flair, Taker, Rock, HHH, Austin, Hogan, Hall, Nash, Jericho, DDP, William Regal (my favorite wrestler FYI he won too) and many more, Stephaie McMahon was great as the guest ref, she took a couple good shots, Vince came out and got nailed by Rock, all in all it was really fun. And I paid for the trip entirely, and made about 50 bucks extra at the casino afterwards, so that's doubly good.

Final Thought: nWo got a LOT of heat, and Hogan can still be a huge draw.

AaronP, I don't follow wresteling that much any more, but thanks for your post. I've never seen a pro wresteling event myself, but from your description, maybe I should. 🙂

<< Zim, my advice if you want to see one, only go to one that is going to be televised. >>

Is this because of the "extra" action AaronP? Thanks for your time.

well, I think the wrestlers work a little harder when it's on TV, they have a lot higher "production values" with pyro, and all that stuff, and well, there's an old saying in wrestling: "If it didn't happen on TV, then it didn't really happen." Storylines are advanced on TV, the matches have consequences and significance in the storyline, stuff that isn't televised has no meaning for the wrestling "timeline" Of course, if you can get tix to a house show for like 10 bucks and wanna blow off a few hours, then go for it.

If you think that PPV was awesome, then you really need to go to one of the main PPV's (Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series, and Royal Rumble). I went to the Royal Rumble last year in New Orleans and to Wrestlemania X7. They were beyond awesome.

While WWF shows live are real cool, nothing can beat the feeling of going to ECW events live. The sheer amount of testosterone crammed into a tiny venue was beyond incredible. If ECW was still around, I'd have brought a bunch of my non-wrestling friends to the events, just for the sheer entertainment value.
