WWATOT do in this situation?

Okay, first time I returned it because the F5 key continuously popped off.

I paid $1600+tax for the laptop, cold hard cash. Saved up for six months.

I then returned it again because the lid on my laptop was off centered. It was hanging off on one end.

Both times they gave me a new one.

Now my enter key is slanted. I have to hit it all the way on the right hand side otherwise it doesn't register a key stroke.

I have an appointment with another Genuis tomorrow.

It seems I continue to have problem after problem with this new MacBook.

Am I being anal retentive or would you be like me after spending $1600.00 on a new laptop?

as over priced as some may think macs are....im pretty sure a wind with OS X cant compare to even a macbook of iffy quality.

You just sound like a shitty consumer. Whether you pay $1 or $1million for something, you aren't paying for something defective unless that was a condition of the sale.

I don't care what platform you use, if someone sells you something that doesn't work right, it's your duty as a consumer to see to it that they rectify the situation.

$1600 is a lot to pay for a laptop that does not function as expected and if it bothers him enough to make a post about it, it should bother him enough to complain.

And for the record, if it's one of the new all-aluminum shell mac books, then I've heard there are loads of imperfections in them just like these.

for 1600$, you could pick up a previous gen macbook pro refurb and have money left over, get dedicated gpu, and a better laptop.
the new ones just aren't that good. it was a poor turn they took in both the macbook and macbook pro when they went with the new chasis.
my two year old mbp (made by asus) hasn't lost a key, and is still in great shape besides the huge dents where my wife dropped a jar of spaghetti sauce on it.
i just put stickers on the top to cover the damage, and it works fine.
i hope at some point they bring the matte screens back..
