I was driving home tonight after work. We got a bit of snow today (few inches, nothing major) and people on the highway forgot how to drive again. People were doing 30 in a 70 and driving in the middle of the road. That's all fine and good, I drive a big truck so I can go around them.

But...but then I came around a curve and saw red flashing lights. Amber means tow truck, so I knew this was someone I had to give one lane clearance to. Well when I was coming up closer to it, it pulled into the middle lane. Ok great. But then its lights were still on. I followed at a safe distance for 2 miles or so and this fire truck kept its lights on and never went above 35. He finally got into the right lane but still kept his lights on.

I got sick of crawling behind him, so I passed him after a total of 3 miles at 35 mph. I've never ran into that. The roads definitely weren't bad enough to justify going that slow and contrary to what fleabag thinks, emergency vehicles don't usually go out just to dictate speed.

So was I wrong for passing him? I was the first of about 10 cars that I saw pass him before I lost sight of him.
