KC weather forecasters are the worst

yesterday they were saying it would be a dusting/flurries and mostly south/east of KC

i live east of KC, almost in Warrensburg and as i drove into KC today, it got WORSE the closer i got to the city

there is 6-7 inches in the parking lot here at work, there was maybe 1-2 inches at my house

if anybody wants a mediocre career where you don't really have to do anything right, become a meteorologist and work in KC

i think So Cal has to have the WORST . . . .
Saturday night they were saying a SLIGHT CHANCE of precipitation . . . .
Sunday morning we got a foot a snow at 3,000' (hi desert) and an inch of rain in Palm Springs (a record). :p

however, it's nice and sunny today . . . ~70 F . . . . :)
(of course, snow's still in the mountains where it BELONGS)

I was in Thousand Oaks, CA when that storm rolled through. I was amazed at how silly SoCal people act when it rains a little. Good gawd, we get dozens of storms that are FAR more powerful than that every season in the Midwest and South.

I know, I grew up in SoCal, and I was amazed at the first driving rainstorm I saw in GA nearly 20 years ago... But I've been gone that long, and now SoCal is alien to me.

you said it!

i woke up to the sound of my neighbor's tires spinning on the street - she managed to bury her car in the quasi-ditch in her front yard.

meanwhile, one of our bartlett pear trees collapsed from the weight of the snow (tree still had most of it's leaves) and feel across our driveway. as i'm not about to cut a 30 ft tree up by hand, my fiancee and i played hooky today. we probably wouldn't have been able to get up our street anyways (pretty steep and it's asphalt).

funny thing is that mel's parents are in northern minnesota (think lots of snow) and they have yet to even get so much as a dusting...

but the best part is that it's now sunny and everything is melting like a mofo...our driveway will be a sodden mess of mud and gravel tomorrow...whoopie...

Damn, if this global warming keeps up we may all freeze to death soon.
