WTH! Playing an Mp3 = Volume 100%???

I'm using a Creative SBLive! Mp3+ 5.1 soundcard with WinAmp 2.72. Every time I open/play a new mp3, the "Wave/DirectSound" volume goes to 100% even after reducing it to 50%.

Anyone know what the deal is with that?

an external program, maybe a dvd player or something that has to do with sound is resetting it back to 100%

Yes, This seems to happen with NT based OS's and Winamp. In this scenario, the winamp volume dial is linked to your wave/direct volume. The only way to unlink it is to change your output device to directsound. Right click on winamp, choose goto options, then preferences. Got to the output plugin and choose the direct sound output rather than wave output.
