Considering how much f%$#ing draw the first one has had I'm not surprised at all, except that Disney execs had enough insight to see the writing on the wall this quickly. I'm damn excited too, though 2005 seems like a long way off. I'll have to make do with the DVD of the first one I'm going to buy as soon as it's out.

Note the date? They're just starting on it now, due to the unexpected success of the first one.

I thought the addendum to the title of the current movie made it pretty obvious they were going to do a sequel: "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl." It basically screams "Pirates of the Carbibbean" Insert sequel title here."

Just what we need, another junky a$$ sequal. My suggestion they should title it

"Pirates Of The Caribbean, beware of the Bearded Clam"

Sequels are so common now that I wouldn't be suprised to see this all the time in the future. If a movie does well when it comes out then ink deals with the stars pronto for part 2.

EDIT: While we're on the subject I can't believe they aren't prepared to crank out new X Men flicks every couple of years for the forseeable future. I hear there is another coming but it will be awhile. I mean, there's so much material and the first 2 films did very well.

studios now that at least 75% of peope that saw the original will see the sequel. If the original rakes in 400 mil they can expect to make 300 mil off the sequel. If it will cost 150 mil to make they have already made money and have even started.

The ending left it wide open anyway and you could tell by the title that they were probably planning multiple movies
