When my brother brought a lot and built his house, he did join this. I think they did save some money in the long run since they got big ticket items from there. And yeah, he can run around looking for deals, but time are wasted in the mean time. It is like this, why people join Costco? Most of the stuffs in there I can get it for cheap else where.
And before people start to throw out how they can remodel the kitchen for $xxxxx.xx - call out the materials you brought, sq. ft you have to deal with and all that kind of shit.

you can't compare Costco to this place. Costco will let you wonder around looking at prices before you decide to join. they do not have high pressure tacticts to get you to join. not to mention costco is what $49 a year. far less then teh $6k

Anyone that uses directbuy is a idiot. you are not getting a deal. you just think you are.

you can get the same "high end" stuff from local contractors for cheaper or the same price (without paying the $4900 to join heh).

I agree one can not compare Costco or Sams Club to Direct Buy. I like most people know how much a steak, can of soup, tube of toothpaste cost and can quickly determine in our head if its a good deal or not, if not we are off by a buck, big deal. plus those two memberships are 40 bucks a year, man i make that up with savings in toilet paper and laundry soap and maxi pads. (3 women in my house)

With direct buy MOST people have no idea how much house fixtures, appliances, cabinets, flooring, beds... cost. and if even if they do know the price, Direct Buy wont let you see their prices until AFTER you shell out 6,000 dollars. Prices are all over the map when it comes to buying that suff for your house.

which is pretty much my point. Costo lets you walk around the store before you decide to buy a membership or not. As others said you make it up fast.

DB is a rip off. ANY place that says you can't see the price before you decide to spend almost $7k is a scam. you should be walking..no running out of the business. Anyone that does it is a idiot.

even after buying into DB many people have found the prices are not any better if they had the local place do it. Even for the "high end" stuff.

That right there is the tip off. If it was a good deal they would be happy to show you the prices, that everything is secret, and the "join today or not for seven years" bs, should send anyone with half a brain running out the door. It's a scam, there is no way to back out and no way to see what your buying. Would buy a car that way? Give them a non refundable down payment before you know the price?

My sister joined directbuy for around 4-5k. She recently bought a big house and made good use of the membership.
She spent 45k on the kitchen, yes its that pricey and she's that crazy, normally it would cost around 65k from other places.
You wont save much buyng typical stuff, its the top-end luxury stuff that has the biggest savings. $85 for a soap dispenser... imagine how much faucet costs.

And I bet I could save more then her without direct buy. Oh wait I am.

Me and my wife are redoing our master bed and bath. Ripped about the other half of the house down to studs, installed 2 french doors, 2 large casement windows, marble tile, walk in tiled shower. Jacuzzi tube, new wiring with new panel, tools, redo grass in front yard, etc...

Even with all that and some labor cost we will be at less then 20k. Maybe a little over 20k if you include draps and other stuff my wife has added into our cost that were not part of the remodel.

Trust me, I looked at DB, they are a scam. Your "sister" did not save anything. You... I mean she is saying that so she does not think she was scammed.

My sister will use a 50 cent off coupon to get a better deal... believe me she shopped around for a long time and the prices she got were far cheaper from directbuy.
You say its a scam, great maybe for you... but not in my sisters case.
