They both got fed up with ATOT's bull shit and quit posting, and, Lola likely asked to have her account completely deleted.

So, I have been on this forum for going on 8 years. I have shared even the most private details of my life with everyone, have tried to be extremely helpful whenever possible.

I think I have pretty thick skin, even for internet standards, but you know what... FUCK ALL OF YOU.
I AM BEYOND SICK OF THE "HOLIER THAN THOU" additude on here. I am sick of the utter rudeness and lack of respect for anyone.

I am happy to say I will never be on this forum again. It has taken too much of my life and I have devoted hours and hours to doing my best to help everyone on here.

Also, I am totally sympathetic. This place lost its cool years ago and Lola is too mature to put up with all the nonsense. She has a husband and a real life. She does not belong with the rest of us nerds.
 
I feel their pain, all it took was a few bad apples to make them leave. ATOT is not the same cool and fun forum to visit anymore. The good old days are long gone. I remember when you post a question, you get a mature & sincere response. I still wonder what changed. 🙁

It's easy to be an iAsshole when there is no fear of a real life beatdown.

Back then we were all (mostly) people that didn't grow up online and had real life experience to fall back on. Today there is an entire generation that has never known life without the internet and some of them just don't get it. (civil interaction that is)

They harassed her, she didn't harass them. Your argument is akin to the classic "she deserved to get raped because she was wearing sexy clothes".
 
Agree with the farewell message that Lola posted (well, not the vitriol and the "FUCK ALL OF YOU"...), but it's also not wise to seek attention (i.e. posting pics of yourself and many details of your life) if you can't handle the criticism that may/will come. You really can't predict the level of idiocy you might encounter, even on a relatively civil site like AnandTech.

It stinks that AT scares some of the genuinely helpful, insightful and interesting people away.

When LolaWiz joined this place was much better, and it had LESS moderating too. Which makes you wonder. We've had a big influx of 4chan refugees over the past couple years and that makes the Mods crazy and the rest of us uneasy.

I don't blame any of the older members for leaving. I haven't been here that long, but really it's not worthwhile to spend that much time on AT or any other forums when half the time you find yourself wading through troll posts and memes repeated ad nauseam.

Pay attention. That argument has already been shot down many times in this thread. She wasnt complaining about comments. She was complaining about all the hateful, evil, nasty bullshit on the site. She had already been in a ATOT hottie contest a couple times before and received negative comments. It was not new.
 
you put yourself out there on the tubes, and you just never know what response you'll get. i thought both of those users were cool, but some little nerds were probably just frothing at the mouth to attack them because they were good, normal people. nothing has changed since i joined, it has only gotten worse. LOTS of trolls, and twice as many idiots.

It's ATOT. This forum used to be awesome. Somewhere along the line, it took a turn and now you question why you are here sometimes.
