WTH does Next of Kin mean?

OK, I'm filling out some crap for my financial aid and it says "Next of Kin" with 2 spots to put in people's name and addresses.

I was thinking about putting my Aunt and Uncle's names in there...would that work?

It is the person most closely related to you. Spouse or Parents/Guardians is generally #1.

Kin, from the word Kindred.

A group of related persons, as a clan or tribe.
