WTH: Army ends Comanche program

It was a weapons platform suitable for the cold war against state-sponsored armies, not terrorists. It's seems like a redundant platform compared to the apache to me.

According to rahvin, it the Comanche wasn't meant to be a weapons platform, but more of a scout. The project wasn't killed so much because the it was redundant to the Apache, but more because using unmanned vehicles are cheaper and safer than using a helicopter.
The commanche was designed to carry almost no munitions (2 bays of I think 14 hellfires, you could add wings that held more but it killed the stealth nature). This is NOT an attack helicopter, it was designed to be a scout. With UAV's we don't need it anymore. Why put a solider at risk when you can send up a $10,000 UAV. As tnitusj said these cold war weapon systems are not needed and are quickly being made irrelevant by technology. The apache we currently have is far supperior to other weapon systems in the world, continued refinement of that platform should be where any money is spent.

Screw the Comanche, I want the Crusader back!

Sure, it looked sweet but thats about it. It's not the super chopper most people made it out to be. Now mobile artillery on the other hand, that's cool.
