WTG?!?!? 'queer as folk' on showtime

Pepsei

any one caught that show? i was fliping thru the channel and i was hit with a scene of two men spooning each other . ugh! nearly lost my dinner.

what's up with that? is that the drama series that's competing with sex in the city on hbo?

nothing wrong with being gay i suppose, but i wouldn't want to watch any couple doing it on national pay tv.

Wouldn't bother me if they're hot, but half naked fugly people causes me that effect. You never seen two guys making out on MTV Undressed?

If its got some kind of sexually suggesting scene, its all good for them. ughhh.. something like that.

It woudn't stop as long as our media is sex driven. Just look at any cologne, clothing or underwear ads. Most of them portray the model in sexually suggesting way.

So Queer As Folk..
I haven't watched it yet. If I recall correctly, at the time I wanted to watch it, there was no rental available and the tape was $60. I couldn't justify spending $60 on copy of Queer as Folk so I didn't buy it.

Funny how the thought of two guys playing "hide the salami" with each other brings on the gag reflex, but the thought of two (hot) women engaged in similar activity brings on an entirely different reflex.....

i do believe there's lesbian sex in it...

is there a difference between that (lesbian sex) and two women doing it for the viewing pleasure of men?

instant gag reflex may also came from the fact where something is not seen often. more instances of female on female than male on male. just like people see slughtering of cows and act indifferently while seeing a dog being chop up and cooked makes someone's blood boil.

I read that one of the characters has a 15 year old boyfriend, and that its treated as OK on the show. Isn't that statutory rape? And a form of child abuse? (30-something year old man with a 15 year old boy).

Can anyone confirm/deny/elaborate???

dunno... if i remember correctly.. there's a older man with a younger guy. as far as i know, they haven't had sex yet becuase the older man is HIV positive.

as for statutory rape, does sex have to happen? or is it defined differently?

I watched the first couple of episodes just to see how far they would push the envelope. Once the shock value was over, I stopped watching. Not my cup of tea..

Dude, lighten up.

There's many gay themed TV shows and shows with gay characters. (Will & Grace, 6 Feet Under, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, etc.)

Like you said, "i wouldn't want to watch any couple doing it on national pay tv".

Well, then dont pay for it

yeah yea, those shows you mentioned... are pretty tame compare to the magnitude on 'queer as folk'.
you would never see will in will & grace buck naked shoving his meat into another man. (not showing the meat but basically everything else).

oh why did willow have to turn lesbo.

like i said, "i wouldn't want to watch any couple doing it on national pay tv", but i still pay for it for the other showtime channels.

If you don't like the show, just don't watch it. T.V. is for your viewing pleasure, if you don't like it, change the channel or watch something else.

its actually a good show.

I watched the first season and thought that if you could put aside the stigma of gay sex being shown the show tackled a lot of good issues. The show is very well done and although there are sex scenes, both lesbian and gay, that isn't the basis of the show. Instead it tackles some real issues.

<< WTG?!?!? >>

inside joke from another thread... stands for "what the gay?"

<< if you don't like it, change the channel or watch something else >>

what gives you the impression that i watch that show? i did watch something else, 'dude, where's my car' was on hbo and quite funny the first time i watch it.

It's called "Queer as Folk" (as in Queer as F*ck) ....what did you expect?

There arent graphic sex scenes on Will & Grace because its broadcast TV
rolleye.gif

You dont see women buck naked on there either..

Also, Showtime's competiton, HBO, does show graphic gay sex scenes in 6 Feet Under.

thats the dumbest thing i ever heard. what kind of straight guy wants to see 2 dudes getting their i love you on?

What's your point?

Pepsei,

I dunno... sounds to me like you know more about the show than could be ascertained by simply "fliping thru the channel"

<< i do believe there's lesbian sex in it... >>

<< dunno... if i remember correctly.. there's a older man with a younger guy. as far as i know, they haven't had sex yet becuase the older man is HIV positive. >>

Never seen the show, but it's been critically acclaimed.

And I think the guy's point was this double-standard... that most guys are very vocal in their condemnation of male homosexuality but seemingly have no problem with lesbianism. Obviously it has to do with what is found attractive vs. unattractive. However, if you want to be a person of integrity, you should use the logical mind God gave you to realize that if you have no problem with lesbianism, then it follows that you have no problem with male homosexuality. Just because it's not your idea of what is sexually attractive doesn't mean that it's "filthy", "sick", "perverted", etc.

If you can watch soft-core lesbian porn on Cinemax, simulated gay sex on Showtime is no big deal. If you don't want to see it, simply change the channel.

well, i have to do some research on the net before i post something like this shouldn't i?

i haven't watch xfiles in ages and yet i can tell you the story line simply from reading the summaries on the net.

i know about 2 episodes worth of the show.... now, if i didn't see the sex scene in the first place, it would just be another regular show they play on showtime when i flip thru it and we wouldn't have this discussion.

LOL prepare to be flamed!

to the what's your point guy, the point is, STRAIGHT males dont wish to be flipping through the channels and come upon two male boinking it on regular tv. That is the point that we're trying to get across. We never said we hate gays or anything like that, but just because you like it, doesnt mean all other men out there like it.

And if you are about to ask the question "What's so wrong about seeing two men boinking it?" Then I'll have to ask this question, what's so wrong about wanting to see a man and a women boinking it instead?

🙂

exactly nocturnal...

that's also something i'm saying.... i have NO problem with people doing it... i just don't want to see it.

luv2chill. nothing wrong with lesbians or gays... just like some people have no problem sex exists but don't want porno in their house.
