If it has your name and address correctly, I don't see how its not yours. Have you ordered anything off EBAY lately? Maybe that was the screwup?

This is like last year for me when Walmart somehow decided to send me a $300 digial camera for free. I tried to send it back but I was unable to. To this day I still have the camera but barely use it.

So it looks like it is an HP 7980s DLT tape drive..unfortuantely hps site is hot playing noce, so could anyone help me find drivers?
Thanks

I'll give you a dollar for it. I can even pick it up tonight. 😉

I'm not sure those things need a driver. That stuff should be pretty standard.

It's probably worth more to someone else, but it's all I was offering you tonight. 😛

Ya think😛

I think it is from the old HP-nix days......ie no windows support🙁 Probably why someone random person mailed it to me🙁

I believe this thing is opsolete according to my link because it is "reel to reel"..got any info vs the new stuff? These tapes only seem to have one massive cog.

The honest thing to do would be to find out who sent it to you, contact them, and send it back...

If they don't want it/don't care, it's yours.

Now who in the world would do that

well, lt came with a disk that has some drivers that aren;t hp and by readign the supported formates of the tape drive, it might be either a BENCHMARK, COMPAQ, or QUANTUM drive...any guesses as to qhich driver might work?

It also came with what I thought was a scsi card but seems to be called a "medium changer" ...

Maybe its not liking the Adapatec ultra160 its conencted to perhaps?

I once sent to motherboards to the wrong person, they were going to buy them, then back out. They forgot about it and were 😕 when a big box showed up with two motherboards in it.. luckily I figured it out the day that the box arrived (DC showed the wrong address) and I was able to get the guy to send them along to the actual buyer just for shipping cost. Whew.

BTW, are they travan-type tapes?
