F@ker that answered the phone said it was towed because I had backed into the spot.
They said it is condo policy or some bullsh!t (he had to look it up)
They want $150

WHAT IN THE FVK IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?!
<---Never got any documentation on this BS as an owner.I would state that there are always many cars parked like that but that is besides the point.

If I am wrong, so be it, but WTF....$150 for the BS rule that no one has even heard of?!

...F$^!

Yeah, everybody is trying to take money away from you. They do something to inconvenient you, waste your time, and then force you to pay them.

it's probably a pretty common rule in condo/apartment complexes. the last place i lived had the same policy but it didn't matter to me because i had a garage ;)

I wonder what the rationale is for the rule? Maybe if your state doesn't require front plates it makes it harder for them to check if your vehicle is registered to park there? Or perhaps they are concerned that backing in increases the likelihood of hitting another car? Hmmmm . . .

brain dump before work ( actually I have to stay to go see the manager so I have to go to work late):

So I just went over the bylaws, and rules and regs with a neighbor (think annoying old lady who is always getting on everyone's nerves about their loud music etc but actually turns out to be just a misunderstood concerned citizen.):

1 - there have apparently been statements in a newsletter* that is left at everyone's door that state that:
a) there were changes made to the parking reqs (changes not listed)
b) that ambiguously state that cars will be towed if left idling back-end-in next a a building. the statement covering the possible liabilities of idling a car in such is fashion underlined.

The statement that applies to this in the rules and reqs states that all cars must be front-end-in at all times. It is buried deep within the document and was added recently.

The statement used to read ..."[etc...] when next to buildings" and the reason it was changed is not clear. Apparently the neigher who helped me ount helped another neighbor who was a victim of this and they won't let her speak at a meeting and challenge the change anymore cause they are angry at her ....

I was parked on the side of the road away from our buildings that abuts a thick row of pines trees that separates us from another condo complex. There are no signs outside that reference any parking requirements except a sticker and no parking signs in front the dumpsters.

*Newsletter notifying users of official business is left at condo doors and there is no assurance that owners are notified. This is important as there are many renters here and there is no way to verify that:
1) it is a legitimate document as their enforcement of solicitations is not adequate (bunch of ads at my door) 2)
2) that it was received by the owner who is bound to these addendums to the bylaws. there is also no verification of receipt upon delivery which practically provides for the condo board to make changes of any kind to rules and reqs at will without notifying the owners. These addendum carry the same wait as the bylaws, and thus can endanger the property of the homeowner due to a lack of legally secured notification

The manager at a past apartment I lived at told me the reason for nose-in only parking....
They pay to have the oil stains burned off with a torch occasionally... if some people park nose in, some back in.... that doubles the number of oil stains and therefore doubles the cost of having them burned off....

Just pay it and get on with your life. Lifes too short to quibble about every little thing.

Probably. Apartments usually have parking tags, but if they're displayed at the rear that makes sense.

Yeah, but where is the fun then...sometimes it's not THAT short :).

Depending on how big your complex is goose, i'd say go in and see if you can get shit changed. Do you have a parking LOT, or just a row of spots behind the complex?

I'm in a smaller complex of 11 units, with 9 parking spots out back, but they are lined up, not lot style.....we have no rules on HOW to park....

HOAs are out of control. I can't see how anyone would ever move into an environment were these groups come up with the outrageous rules.

I would fight it. just out of principle

I would print up a flier with a message explaining what happened to you.
Also mention how the admins can change rules at any time and not notify anyone.

I would make them out of hot pink paper and tape them to every door in the complex.

Start a revolution!

He knows it was towed. He would be filing a false police report and he would go to PMITA-land.
Hmmm

OP, report it stolen!

Won't it be funny if it was in fact a person from ATOT who towed your vehicle because you never updated that thread.

Does it matter if he knows who "stole" it? It's still stolen!

The only time I have encountered that is when they issue a sticker for the back window. If the car is backed in they cannot see the sticker when they do drive by checks.
