WTF?!

It's driving me nuts! Every so often I go to the kitchen I get a whiff of something rotting - I'd go clean it, but it's only a whiff, so I can't track it down! 😕:|

Any way I can find it somehow? I've stood in the kitchen sniffing everything, But I can't seem to track it - it's not the fridge, it's not the sink, it's definitely not the table or the cabinets . . ..

Dishwasher or underneath sink (mold/mildew?)

Checked it - it's definitely not me - people cannot detect their own body odor unless they're sweaty bastards (and I'm not - plus I take showers regularly).

Something similar happened to me once... rotten smell coming from the laundry room...had no idea what it was... several days later I found that somebody forgot to wash out a soup pot before putting it back in the cabinet.... yeah.. sick

We came home from vacation and the apartment smelled like a dead rat. We looked and looked and it turned out to be a rotten potato in the potato sack. DAMN. Rotten potatoes are nasty.

close your windows and turn off any fans and your AC for a while

my kitchen had a tupperware container full of some nasty stuff stashed away in a cupboard (no idea how it got there)
i couldn't track it down because i couldn't lock a good scent on it
finally close the windows and turned off the ceiling fan...once the air stopped moving around i could figure out where it was coming from.

have you checked under the fridge?

There's generally a pan under there that can get pretty nasty if some water gets in it.

House or apt.?

If you're in a house, check your attic. If apt., maybe it's your neighbor.

Well, I don't think it's the neighbors - otherwise it wouldn't be so concentrated on the kitchen area, whould it? 😕

Just went back to check it - whiffed around, got nothing! I tell ya, it's almost like a phantom smell of some kind!

LMAO!

if you have a gas stove, check the flex pipe for cracks ( that leads into the back of it ) or see if a pilot for the oven blew out- they add an odor to the gas so you notice it. Happened to me over last summer, since we don't bake during the hot months.
