Religion doesn't make the people, the people make the religion. It's a pitty that people actually believe that this group represents Christianity. And, if someone is going to keep the relationship between themself and God as impersonal as simply having a religion, they can be as hateful and destructive as they want to be without remorse. Calling themselves Christians does nothing but damage the real Christian's chances at getting people to take them seriously and hear them out when they are logcally and respectfully presenting themselves.

No, it's not simply because they wouldn't convert. It's that they wouldn't convert to whatever the beliefs of the leader of the country at the time. You'll see some cultures changing religion like a bad habbit because each new leader thought something else.

If you didn't change your religion, you were basically committing treason.
