I am trying to do a format and reload on my machine. So I erase my previous win98se load by formatting the C: drive in dos. Now, when I attempt to reload windows 98se, and type in the key code exactly as it is on the sheet, it tells me it is an invalid code

How could this be. I've done this procedure at least 20 time in the past 3 years.

I did a dir on the C: drive, and it's empty

On the sheet ????????????????????????

Mine is on a sticker on the back of the cardboard sleeve.

Either you have the wrong CD or you have the wrong number or you're trying to do a reinstall using a different key than the one it was originally installed with. If you've installed previously using the SAME key AND the SAME cd then I'd say you got a bum cd or serious HW problems.

I did a low level format and now it's working. I was also running a 33% overclock (900 @ 1.2Ghz)...maybe I corrupted something. I kicked it back a little.

Well, that is the first time I have heard of overclocking corrupting that part of the install... Live and Learn.

I've had an install of Office XP get f-ed up due to overclocking, but when I brought my processor back down to it's proper speed, Office XP installed fine.
