It's not any more asinine than taking a truck and trying to turn it into a sports car like they did with the Lightning in the first place.

There was a demand for a fast truck and Ford filled the demand. How is that any different from Honda filling the demand for a SUV with the Pilot, or Honda turning their econobox Civic into something decently fast, (Si) or Dodge putting an insane V10 into a sports car? (A Viper) It's not supposed to be a sports car either - it's just a fast truck.

OMG thats terrible, whoever did that should be shot. The owner will get laughed at everywhere he goes where people actually know what a lightning is.

They were pretty damn successful, the L will outrun six-cylinder pony cars & give a V8 a hell of a surprise if they didn't notice the clear taillights & low profile tires.

They improved the power and handling to put it close the same level as a Camaro/Firebird/Mustang. That sounds like trying to at least give it sports car properties to me. The filling the demand issue is irrelevant. A demand for something doesn't make it right or wrong. I just think that a truck is a truck, and a sports car is a sports car. It seems stupid trying to turn one into the other. If I jacked up my Firebird and put mud tires on it to make it go offroading, I would be made fun of to no end. Yet somehow, lowering and modifying a truck for performance is seen as okay. Of course, that's just my opinion. Feel free to disagree. :)

Its just a truck that goes fast and looks good..... nothing wrong with that IMO. Its sort of a double standard that I agree with (making trucks fast = okay making firebirds jacked up + mud tires = no way.)

The worst part of the equation is that if he didnt change the rear-end gears in the truck, he lost most of the performance of the Lightning.
