Stop watching TV. I gave it up in 1997 and do not miss it at all.
This, a thousand times this.

We have rentable movies, torrents, youtube, other streaming services and broadband. I see no reason whatsoever to watch ordinary television anymore. I gave it up several years ago, and I don't miss it at all. No ads, no annoyances and I'm almost immune to those musical fads/earworms that occasionally sweep through society.

Same about radio: with mp3s and a thousand and one download services, legal or otherwise, I just can't see any reason at all to listen to the radio. They always air the same popular songs, the quality is awful and the DJs keep interrupting the songs before their end so they can spout some mindless drivel about the latest celebrity.
Thanks, but no thanks.

Sports?

As for radio, there are good alternatives to commercial radio you realize right? You have other options on the dial besides the Clear Channel stations.

Not to mention I think you're missing his point. He GAVE UP TV. You didn't give up TV, you found alternative sources for the same content.
