ok, check this out. i ordered an ecs 7ks5a & 950 duron from outpost last week, and i got my stuff today. i go home nice and happy and set the sucker up. first i get some beeps. nothing unusual... so i look over everything. everything looks right. still beeping. strange. so i bust out another k7s5a (which i happen to have in surplus), and that thing post without a hitch. so i'm fairly certain i got a bad mobo. now i call up outpost and tell them i got a bad board and ask for a replacement. the dude was like cool, just ship it back to us and blah blah blah. i'm like wait a second... who's gonna pay for shipping back? he tells me "you". you? how about f*ck you! nah... i didn't say that, but thats what i was thinking. i don't get this... i get a board thats bad right out of the box, yet they want me to pay to ship the piece of crap back to them. is that right? i told the guy that sucks, and his reply was "i know, but unfortunately there is nothing i can do about that". i told him i would call him back, becuz i wanted to do a little research on this subject. so far, i have not turned up anything on the outpost website. has anyone ever dealt with outpost rma before? am i destined to get shafted for return shipping charges on a DOA product?

EDIT - crap... i found this --> "Return shipping charges are the sole responsibility of the customer" FAWK!!!!

last time i checked most online retailers are like that

when you have to drive to return a defective item back, they don't reimburse you for gas

Yeah basically what happens is when you want low, low prices you give up options in other areas like customer support. Pay top dollar at egghead.com and they'll gladly pay the shipping. Its a toss up.

Yes, you have been spoiled.

From the retailer's perspective, especially with motherboards, nearly 75% that are sent back aren't bad. So now the retailer is out all that jack just to have to pay to reship a good product back to a ignorant customer. Not saying you are, you sould like you do indeed have a bad board...

Dell has a slightly different business model and customer core.

i didn't know egghead was kickass rma policy. all i know about them is they used to have great prices on shipping ($6.95 flat on just about everything). and i thought they went under too...

Why should outpost pay you to ship the board back ? Did they produce and manufacture the board think not.
customers amaze me in what they expect.

I don't see the big deal, you'll get it replaced for free, yet you're complaining cause you have to ship it? Sounds a little immature to me.

Good luck, anyhow.

Most likely any profit they made selling you the board will be lost when they have to ship you the replacement board.

Like everyone else you want to get it for as cheap as possible but want top calss service.

I don't think spanky got the response that he expected.

But I agree, from the few times I have had to return items to etailers, I have had to pay the shipping. :disgust:
