Scary. I found something like that in my Cherry Coke once. Had an official Coke rep come out to my house and pick up the bottle and everything. 😀 They gave me about 10 coupons for free 24 packs of coke products, then sent me a letter a couple weeks later saying the lab had found the goo to be lube for the Coke machines made from peanuts(food grade, of course). 🙂

Have had way too much experience in these situations and found some companies are more generous then others when it comes to this type of stuff. Luckily it was all found before using the product.

Frito Lay - (found a piece of wood) gave about 5 coupons good for those 20 pack variety box type product

RC - (Found a screw) they gave like 5-6 cases of free pop

Dr. Pepper (found a USED bandaid) and they gave 2 coupons for free 12 packs :disgust:

This next thing didnt happen to me but we seen it in the store (Dominick's). A women was buying one of those gallon jugs of gatorade (yellow flavor) and there was a dead mouse floating in it. When they took it off the shelf it must have been inside at the bottom where you couldnt see it due to the label but when they got to the register and it had been shook up you could see it floating around. :disgust:
 
Almost all food products have a 800 number and lot number on them.

I got a hot pocket once that didnt come in a wrapper or with the cardboard browner sleeve (I can't remember which was missing)...I called up just to let them know a machine may be bad and find out if they knew of any tampering (it was around the 9/11 period). Turned out a machine wasn't loaded that day properly and I must have gotten the first in a bunch that went out without sleeves or wrappers.

I got about 6 free hot pockets coupons, the customer service lady even was concerned if I'd be without lunch that day. Pretty cool.

They can usually detect fraud by comparing addresses and esp. one off problems are rare, it's usually quite a few of a lot that are affected when something goes wrong and they usually know about it that day, but some must slip through the cracks....I can just imagine how many per minute are made.
