The Da Vinci Code was better the first time around when it was called National Treasure. I was surprised that I actually liked National Treasure.

I didn't think it was a bad movie. Just an overrated book.

A&D was a superior book IMHO.

National Treasure was great mostly because of Nic Cage's suckage. I don't know what it is, but the more of his awful acting I see, the more I like his movies. I think I'm just starting to appreciate the fact that he's NOT trying to do an awesome job and just kind of does the same character in every movie. Sort of like how Christopher Walken put it to Conan O'Brien, "See, they have these things in parentheses before our lines in the script. Those are stage directions. I don't listen to those, I just say every line the same way."

Considering Dan Brown writes the same exact book every time, A&D was his best version of that book.
A Dan Brown book goes like this:
Step 1) Renowned expert in a field gets a wake up call to talk to some government service
Step 2) A love interest is introduced
Step 3) Some trusted figure betrays the main character
Step 4) Expert from step one solves the case, wins the love interest and strolls off into the sunset

They were both entertaining books. What pisses me off is how many people took the historical stuff seriously.
Might as well take history from National Treasure.
