Eh, not much shown in the trailer. I liked The Da Vinci Code movie (haven't read the book) quite a bit so hopefully this is good as well.

Too bad DaVinci Code (the book) came out a year before Nat'l Treasure...

A&D was a superior book IMHO.

These.

TDC was a "fun read" but by no means some amazing book - not sure why it seemed to get that reputation. It was a quick book and was entertaining, but any shades of brilliance? Nah. Angels and Demons was definitely better, too.

Movie adaptations for this kind of book is entirely plot driven. But unfortunately for TDC, everyone has read the book. All the interesting plot twists and turns are alreayd known by the audience so its bascially jsut tediously waiting to the next chapter of the book that you know it's coming. Hopefully Angels and Demons will do better in the box office since most people going in will not have read the book (at least less than TDC).

I think I'm just starting to appreciate the fact that he's NOT trying to do an awesome job and just kind of does the same character in every movie. Sort of like how Christopher Walken put it to Conan O'Brien, "See, they have these things in parentheses before our lines in the script. Those are stage directions. I don't listen to those, I just say every line the same way."

Hmm the characters in Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation, and Raising Arizone were all pretty different. He's a good actor when he needs to be. But it's true he does a lot of movies where he's basically waiting for the check to clear.

There aren't that many actors who can create completely different characters in every movie. Even De Niro and Pacino essentially play the same character in every movie

Considering Dan Brown writes the same exact book every time, A&D was his best version of that book.

A Dan Brown book goes like this:

Step 1) Renowned expert in a field gets a wake up call to talk to some government service
Step 2) A love interest is introduced
Step 3) Some trusted figure betrays the main character
Step 4) Expert from step one solves the case, wins the love interest and strolls off into the sunset

This.

I read the Davinci Code and thought it was interesting. Attempted to read A&D and it was the EXACT same thing. Some scientist/religious guy gets killed by an evil guy in the beginning...he gets called in and has to save the world from some organization. Throw in a chick and voila!

The movie for DaVinci Code was HORRRRRRRRRIBLE!

They were both entertaining books. What pisses me off is how many people took the historical stuff seriously.

Might as well take history from National Treasure.

That's how TDC became that famous. People made a big deal about it and that spread the hype. Suddenly, everyone want to read just to see what is the big deal?

Being a good or bad movie doesn't matter, it made $758,239,851 world wide, a sequel was inevitable.

It's a theory that was offered years before TDC. That doesn't mean it is completely false. Theories come out because we don't know what the truth is.

With the DaVinci Code, I wasn't impressed by the book or the movie. That said I'll probably still see Angels & Demons.

I saw a documentary that came out after the Divinci Code buzz. They were sayign that there have been a ton of people visiting the churches in the movie. Oddly enough, a lot of the legend claimed in the movie actually surrounds those places.

The weirdest place they visited was a chapel in Ethiopia (Axum) where they claim to have the Ark of the Covenant. What's interesting is that a priest is appointed to guard it...no one goes in or out of the place it's stored...and the priests given the job to watch over it die about 2 years after taking on the job....mysteriously. I'm just having trouble finding a website that says that. (it was the creepiest part of the story)

A&D sucked majorly. Not even remotely believable. I actually liked the Davinci Code (book).

I couldn't get through DaVinci Code. I just couldn't and I would like to say I honestly tried. I didn't agree with the style etc. I haven't seen the movie.

I got through A&D, I'm not sure what the difference was b/w the two for me, but I did get through A&D. I though the story was okay and interesting. I don't think he is a very good writer - or rather I feel he feels I am a dumb reader and is beating me over the head with every point he makes and all those side thoughts in italics letting me know in case i missed it, what happened.

I dunno about the movie, the teaser trailer that came out awihle ago looked semi interesting, but i doubt i would watch it as I have read the book and can't imagine it really being that much better in movie cause I know what's happening. Unless of course they take a lot of license and completely change the book up, then i'll watch it.

I did not read either book, but I enjoyed the movie version of TDC. I will definitely see A&D.
