Ok, I go to hook up the new router I bought, seems to work fine. However, the cable goes out. WTF, bad timing, right?

Ok, so after much experimentation, I find that the cable kidna works still, I get 3-5k sec, rathan than 150 or so like normal.

After much more experimentation: the router interferes with the cable modem. I had the modem sitting on top of the router, and was getting 24/20 kbps at dsl reports speed test. As soon as I slid the two a few feet apart, I got 1454/246 on the same test.

Anyone know a cable modem that's not nearly so susceptible to RF interference? this is a RCA DCM245.

Wow that's pretty funky. Don't have anything helpful to say other than that most people seem to agree that RCA cable modems suck bricks. The Toshiba and Motorola Surfboard models are supposed to be the better ones.

Yeah, sounds like it's your modem if other people have had problems with it - I've got my Linksys router about 3 in. from my SB4100 and it works great.

See if you can use the RF Interference as an excuse to get a different modem?
