WTF!? I call my C. Card company to check my balance to pay this month, and I'm overcharged. WTF?!@!!? I speak to a agent and somebody charged $155 to Embarcadero Publishing?! I looked them up on google and got some magazine company that releases "The Almanac" and other never before heard of publications! BLARGH!!! UBER PISSED right now....thats my rant.

UPDATE: Contacted the company that charged my card (Embarcadero) and basically someone gave them my card numbers, my addy, some aol email and they used some fax number in my area for a contact number. Contacted my local Fraud Department, got a case number. Put up a flag on the credit report...and now I wait. The fraud apparently put up an ad for some "Work at home" job in the San Fran area (I live in MD and never been to nor know anyone from San Fran).

On a more serious note..did you purchase CC theft protection, or does your CC company provide it? I had someone charge 2000$ to my CC for stereo Equip, filled out a few forms and bam..all gone :)

??? I don't know what quoting my last post has anything to do with your remark. To answer your question, the credit protection fee is approximately 2 dollars a month and I can spare ~$24 annually for peace of mind.

Hmm, I have no such protection and B of A still took off the $1200 someone spent on a new computer on my card. Got a new card within a week, they sent a form a few weeks later, signed it, that was it. The money was given back to me within 24 hours of calling them. All that for $0 a month, now thats peace of mind!

He is acting like someone else charged his card when he actually did. Now he doesn't want to pay it.

credit protection = cancelling debt or making payments for you for certain qualifying life events, ie, death in the family, disability, job loss, etc. Some also include natural disasters, ie, if you lose your home, they'll waive the 5000 charge you just put on your card for your new pair of jetskis (I guess they figure you have enough problems). This service costs money, usually about a dollar per every 100 on your balance, charged every month, based on your average daily balance.

fraud protection = 0 liability for fraudulent transactions or unauthorized purchases. ie, someone steals your card, card #, uses it without your permission, etc. Good credit card companies include this in a free benefits package, or it is an option you can select for free when you sign up for your card. Usually it is a selling point to simply get the card. this should NEVER cost you anything, as afaik, you cannot be held legally responsible for fraudulent charges. (I believe the "fraud protection" service so to speak makes it easier by going through the CC company instead of lawyers/the gov't)

Nah. She's still there. I think the CC companies really don't care. Its the vendors that get hosed.
