WTF: Sniper witness lied to the police

The reason they do this is so if by off chance the sniper is caught after they give this "evidence" then they can try to claim part of the 500K. What a loser.

I would not be surprised if most of the reports are either outright lies or the mind playing tricks on the witnesses.

A lot of people would not agree, but proper justice for them would be:

Make them run around in their boxer shorts with a target painted to their back and front.

Dumbass! :|

What an ass! They should sentence him to stand outside at a local gas station near I-95, and pump gas for people every other day. Then on the days hes not pumping gas, he should be helping people bring their groceries out to their cars. All the while wearing an ultra Orange vest with a large circular target painted on the front and back.

Pissant!

sorta like taht guy who "got a good look at the guy"

he saw a middle eastern guy driving a van and assumed it was a freaking sniper, sad, very sad

I wonder if he had been playing SOF2 (since an AK74, which he claimed to have seen, seems like a slightly arcane weapon to have just made up; I would think most people would have said an AR-15 or variant).

what is the stereotypical terrorist weapon?

An AK-47, I suppose, but the AK-74 is a later, much rarer variant that fires .223. I guess it is possible that he told the authorities he saw an AK-47, and that they then projected that it must have been an AK-74, which fires the correct caliber to match the prior shootings. Quite the dumbass in any event.

I thought the AK-74 was 5.45mm?

What exactly would the charges be?
Authorities said they expect charges to be brought against the man, whose name has not been released, for giving false information to police.

Sounds like a plan to me

I heard what they might charge the guy with on the news today at work, but I forget what it was now. They were misdemeanors at least, maybe a low class felony.

The AK74 and AK47 look VERY similar, I don't think I could tell them apart from 15 yards, let alone 30 yards when they were being fired and I was trying to lay low.
