<< I'm only prejudiced against stupidity. >>

you've mistaken ignorance for stupidity, fett. first of all, she was desperate to come to america because of the freedom, or rather rumors of freedom. all odds are against her and she doesn't know anything about this country and so she's stuck in her position without any clue to get out of it - that's ignorance, not stupidity. I agree with classy on this issue..from past posts, you seem like a white guy either ignorant or are in denial to racisms and a possibility of imperfections in america. open your eyes, america and its people have flaws too.

Did I say anything about this woman and her plight? The stupidity I was referring to was this reporter and his tabloid reporting that's trying to pass for real journalism. This woman was being held against her will, and I feel for her and would like to see justice served, it sounds like her life must have been horrible. But what the hell else are we supposed to do about it beyond create and enforce laws? Do these types of crimes and situations exist? Yes. Is it wrong? Yes. Is there anything that can be done about it on a grand scale? No.

Slavery is illegal in this country. So are a lot of things. Does passing a law prevent crimes from happening? No, it only prescribes the punishment once that crime is committed. Should we have Anti-Slave Squads (ASSes) which do break into random homes to verify that people don't have slaves?

boberfett, don't you think you could have clarified yourself earlier?

the reason I thought you meant the lady was stupid was b/c of this quote: "What a fscking lame story." to me, that sounded like you were undermining the hardships the lady went through and couldn't care less about her.

and I also admit it's my fault for misunderstanding you.

Sorry, my bad. :( I wasn't very clear, no need to apologize.

I was definitely NOT referring to this woman's story as lame, it was the article I was referring to. This "reporter" took one crime and blew it into a national epidemic of a modern day slave trade. I expected no less than for someone like classy to jump in and call me a racist though. In classy's eyes, anybody who doesn't agree with him is a racist.
