I fucking hate PayPal, but have to use them...and now hate them more. How the fuck can they hold my money in the account? This is bullshit. I could understand if I was a new member, but I've been a member for 4+ years and have over 70+ positive feedback on eBay, no negatives.

What the fuck.

It's part of their new "Saving America" plan. They're boosting the savings rates of America one account at a time. You can thank them later :^P

When it comes to eBay transactions, they seem to hold the money until the buyer actually receives the item. :\ I got to have fun with that when I sold a case on eBay, and if I recall, they wouldn't even release funds to pay for shipping either.

I've had this happen once. Paypal "held" the funds until the buyer left positive feedback, or I think something like 2 weeks if no feedback was left by then.

Don't know if paypal initiates this, or the buyer? Only happened once.

PayPal is not a bank and has much less regulation and compliance to obey. They can be a huge PITA if the want to. I never keep money at PayPal and avoid using them if possible, if not for eBay, I would probably get rid of them altogether. Fuck PayPal!

Well this is actually the whole point of using them as a proxy payment. It gives both sides a sense of security. The problem arises when they hold on to the money for too long.

Yup, just closed my account with them yesterday. Had it for years, but their lack of seller protections was the last straw with me. They can go fuck themselves. As often as I (don't) use eBay, it won't be missed.

What reason did they site for holding on to the cash. Did the other guy let them know on the 10th? If so yeah that's not good.

When does PayPal release the payment?

The funds from each transaction will typically be released 21 days after payment, unless there's a dispute, chargeback, claim, return or reversal on that transaction, or any other limitation on your account. The money may be released sooner if:

Your buyer leaves positive feedback (Applies only to eBay items) or
We can confirm that the item was delivered* and 3 days elapse. This gives the buyer enough time to review the order and file a dispute if necessary

I love how people bitch about how they want policies like this as a buyer, and then when the policies are put in place and the same people become sellers, they bitch about said policies.

(not directed at you, just general sentiment)

i always withdraw the second i get payment, and it paid off. some asshole buyer decides to open a case against me faulting me for not shipping the item (despite having a tracking number, despite having tracking information, despite it not being delivered yet). paypal put a hold on my account which gave me a negative balance. after a week of being ignored i escalated to ebay customer support which resolved the case 'in his favor' but let go of the hold on my money, so my balance is back to 0.

stupid ass paypal and ebay. been a member of ebay since 90s and paypal since their first year or so and still have to deal with nonsense from some pos 15 feedback having asshole.
