WTF?????Online Gaming?

I just got cable hooked up yesterday. Last night I was trying to get some gaming action going on with gamespy. For some reason everytime I attempted to play Mohaa, or Renegade, or Bf1942, the damn server would time out. I was using only regional server option, games would start up but fail to connect. I know the connection is fast enough, I just haven't played online much since the good ol Mplayer days. Just wondering if something was up with Mohaa? But it seems to be all my games. I do have them installed on my RAID drive. Also tried installing update for Mohaa, and says it's not on my system, maybe because it's on the raid drive? Also where it the best place to play online games?

I'm running the same game on a RAID 0 drive aswell. With AT&T cable.....works for me.

I don't use game spy though. Have you tried NOT using game spy?

Gamespy won't work for me either...the in-game browser is your best bet. It picks up all game servers, so its not like you're missing out on some.

I don't use game spy though. Have you tried NOT using game spy?

I dunno what else to use, I don't like gamespy, and will use anything else if I can....any reccommendations?

Try connecting BF1942 in the game, not with Gamespy.

Tried that several times, the game would start, then connect to the ip, then give me an error about connection being refused...I dunno...

I don't think so. I'm going to have to mess with it somemore I guess. I dunno just sucked I couldn't play, and I was totally stoaked about getting cable. Thanks for the suggestions....

I think I know what the problem is... and you're probably going to laugh.
Have you updated all your games with the latest patches? 😉
You can't play online unless you're running the same version as everybody else.

So if you have the 1.1 retail patch for BF1942 installed, go into the game, join an EA server thru the ingame browser... what happens?
I usually update the servers, then arrange them by name and hit the first EA Conquest server I see.

BTW are you trying to use Gamespy 3D or Gamespy Arcade? I've never liked arcade... use 3D occassionally.

I say to join the EA servers because you could be trying to join a passworded server or something. EA ones are probably better than the regular home user servers anyway... atleast if you're on the east coast.

Sweet I'll try the Ea servers. See what happens. I dunno just seemed easier when I was playing Q2 couple years back on my 233 with VooDoo2 on Mplayer. I think freakn' gamespy sucks. IMO
